kaela, that was a funny show. too bad he died so young
him and john candy.
rose. if i can't win i dont' want to play
ok so i got FED UP and called eastlink and told them about my intermittent connection. well something was wonky. i had too many cords plugged into the modem. the usb wasn't needed.. (so why was it there?). the one that looks like a phone cord, was supposed to be connected, and i think it was loose.
so keep fingers crossed.
and my system is running slowly so now performing "full computer check"
it's been running over an hour and only has scanned 116,000 files. looks like a few hours to go?
no viruses yet. just the one inside me.

I am not fully acadian but my father is from New Brunswick so I am familiar with some of the dishes. I have had tourtierre (meat pie) before . . . . my grandmother always used to make rabbit pie and potato balls (yuck!) . . . tonight my mom made a chicken fricot (acadian stew) for dinner. My fav!! She always uses Summer Savory in it and only used to be able to get it down east, luckily she was able to get it at Bulk Barn here or I was going to ask you to send me some.

You sound like me.. my body is covered in scars from all kinds of accidents. The most embarrassing one was when i was young and worked in a pizzeria I.. uh.. burned my butt on a hot water tank in the kitchen. Really bad marks across... took years to fade. I wouldn't let the manager write up a med report for me.. waaay too embarrassed

edit.. but apparently not too embarrassed to post on SC's lol

Okay! We're back from the Acadian Feast and it was yummy! Yes, we had Rappie Pie or like we call it "Râpure" with big clams and one with chicken! So yummy! We also had "Fricot au poutines râpées", Seafood Lasagna, Jumbeliyah (which is actually Cajun but it was yummy!) and for dessert we had carrot cake with a cream cheese topping, chocolate cake with a whipped cream topping and an icecream cake for a birthday! I am SO full! We also have such fun though!
Okay, now to the serious stuff! Our county is under both a Hurricane Watch and a Tropical Storm Warning...
It's going to make landfall somewhere in the Bay of Fundy but they aren't sure yet if it will be closer to St. John, New Brunswick or Yarmouth, Nova Scotia (that's about 20 minutes away!). It poured rain all day and sort of is starting up again but it's not part of Hurricane Kyle. It's due to start late afternoon tomorrow. I live in Digby County but I live closer to Yarmouth than Digby but am inbetween both (almost in the middle)
NS - I think you guys will get some strong winds, you might get a bit of rain but it sounds like you guys aren't under any watch right now...
Here's a link for Nova Scotia:

Warnings
Digby County
4:50 PM ADT Saturday 27 September 2008
Tropical storm warning for
Digby County issued
Tropical storm Kyle is intensifying and moving northward towards the Maritimes.
A tropical storm warning means that sustained gales...Winds of 63 km/h or more...Are expected in the specified areas within 24 hours. By nature a tropical storm also implies the threat of local flooding from heavy rainfall. By nature a tropical storm warning also implies the threat of local flooding from heavy rainfall.
At 3PM ADT this afternoon tropical storm Kyle was located 465 kilometres west of Bermuda and moving northward 24 km/h. On its path Kyle is forecast to pass just to the west of Yarmouth very late Sunday evening or very early Monday morning just before making landfall on the New Brunswick coast before dawn Monday.
Current expectations are that Kyle will push tropical storm force winds of 80 km/h with gusts to 120 km/h into the tri-county region of Nova Scotia early Sunday evening. Depending on the exact track and strength and position of Kyle sustained hurricane force winds may be possible near the coast just as Kyle passes west of Yarmouth. A hurricane watch has been issued concurrently for this possibility.
These same winds speeds in similar events in the past have caused significant tree damage that has resulted in downed power lines and damage to structures due to falling branches or trees. All preparations to secure loose objects should be completed by Sunday afternoon.
Also of concern..Kyle will be arriving at the time of high tide in Yarmouth. The resulting storm surge from Kyle on top of the dangerous rough surf may lead to shoreline erosion and damage to the coastal infrastructure mainly in Yarmouth and Digby counties.
At this time rainfall amounts are not expected to reach the 50 millimetre threshold.

But that might be all you get up your way. As far as I can tell, the valley isn't even under any warning or watch! Lunenburg is on the South Shore but nothing further than that. It's quite possible you won't get much at all. Sounds like it's up towards the Bay of Fundy between St. John and Yarmouth. It could change though, it's the maritimes! We brought stuff in as I know we'll get strong winds and some rain. Better to be on the safe side.
You feeling any better at all NS?
