It was worth the wait! Ground beef, Hamburger Helper & new coupons!

First, a BIG thank you to manzervite for this thread Coupons on New Specially Marked Hamburger Helper / Tuna Helper Boxes, giving the specifics about the Hamburger Helper promotion and where to find the new boxes!!!

I’ve been holding on to some of the “$3.00 off the price of ground beef WUB Hamburger Helper” coupons. The expiry date is October 31, 2012.

I’ve been waiting and waiting for the best possible use for these coupons, a time when BOTH ground beef AND Hamburger Helper would be on sale. I was beginning to wonder if, perhaps, I had waited too long . . .

And then it happened! . . . only days before the coupons expire:

Food Basics has the 2 lb. tube of lean ground beef on sale for $3.94.

No Frills has Hamburger Helper on sale for 3/$5.00.

RCSS has the new boxes of Hamburger Helper, the ones with $4.50 worth of coupons on the box.

So . . .

I went to RCSS, picked up boxes of Hamburger Helper and 2 lb. tubes of lean ground beef and price-matched No Frills & Food Basics. Here is how it works out:

Hamburger Helper @ $1.67 + 2 lbs. lean ground beef @ $3.94 - $3.00 coupon = $2.61

What a deal! $2.61 for Hamburger Helper AND 2 lbs. lean ground beef AND $4.50 in coupons! (x18 in total, purchased over several days)

My freezer is stocked!

i m still worry about the ground beef thing. are they ok to be eaten now? i have a few of those $4off coupon from the taco kits, but holding back on using them

Personally I'm not worried about the beef, the problem only caused a dozen or so people to be ill, no deaths, and had they cooked all the beef until well done it wouldn't have been a problem.
I am going to score this deal today to use up the 7 HH coupons in my stash, but am disappionted in the new coupons since we really don't have any intrest in these 3 products :/ (fake eggs, hot sauce and bicks).

Great planning and awesome it all worked out for you at the end! You are lucky that your RCSS let you PM multi-buys for the Hamburger Helpers, my RCSS doesn't allow that.

i was holding out for mine also. Went to walmart yesterday and had hamburger helper on for $1.87 (with $4.50 of coupons on it) went to the meat department and they had packages of ground beef with 30% off. 3 packages of ground beef for .26-.56 each. Well worth it!!

I bought mine at Wally. They didn't have the coupons on the box though. But I was glad for cheap HH and Hamburger meat

I had actually forgotten about the coupons on the HH boxes in our cupboard until the other day. I ran out today and used the 2 I had and bought 2 new HH for $1.99 each at RCSS. The Meat department guy would NOT split a package of ground beef so I bought 2 Medium bags for $2.99 each and so go .02 overage! I also found a 236ml. POM on sale for .99 -.50 coupon. We are heading away on a holiday so I'll give these to db to use while we're away.

Great deal, thanks for letting me know...I'd have missed it! I have one $4 coupon from taco kit left...just used the kit today so I'll be at RCSS tomorrow for sure! I won't use some of the new coupons so they'll be up for trade at some point.
