Last Day at Zellers Brag

Our local Zellers closed today. I went in hoping to pick up a few ``stocking stuffers``. The receipt says I saved.... $286.

I really wouldn`t have bought a lot of these things at full price - but at 90% off.... well - who can resist?

Some highlights:

3 bags of chips at .35 each

A family trivia game cd - .79

A ``Build a Canvas Photo Frame`` kit for my photo-taking sil - $1.49

And I`ve been looking for Christmas themed cotton bed sheets. I picked up a King Sized duvet cover which had ``lost`` it`s packaging and shams for $13.85. (She wouldn`t reduce it even more because it had lost these articles - but regularly priced $138.50 - I`ll TAKE it. It is a lovely plain RED and I`m sure I can find pillow covers that will ``match``.

Lots of little things to put into stockings!

Good-bye! Zellers! I`ll miss the ``Canadian`` aspect of this store! I was in that store when it first opened when I was in high-school - and 50 years later - it`s gone!

yes it started as a very crummy store and really started having good products. Zellers will be missed

Well, 50 years is nice ride. And, there's still The Bay and Home Outfitters, where you can get more points.

Very nice deals avoncallingu! Yes, I agree with you that something is gone/will be gone from Canadian retail landscape. Maybe it is the traditionalist in me that wants things to not change so rapidly. At least we will have our memories. On a positive note, Target will open soon and the deals must go on.
