Thread: My SDM 18,500 Pts WUS $75 Shop

So I decided to plan out a careful haul using coupons and sales and whatnot - had it beautifully planned out, and of course got to the store and some of the items on my list weren't in stock. Back to square one. In the store. With my 7 year old son in tow.
... that only lasted about 30 minutes and then I left my cart at customer service, drove my son home to Daddy and went back.
Unfortunately I forgot my VIB baby coupons for extra bonus points so had to adjust some plans there too, but regardless, I still feel pretty good.
I didn't buy the diapers on sale, because my friend still has a raincheck for the 242's of size 2s Pampers from Walmart's anniversary sale that she is sharing with me - and those were $33 and change for 242 diapers, so a much better deal. I can't bring myself to buy something I know I can get a much better deal on just to get the points.
Anyway, here is what I ended up with - all things we were either out of or needed, with exception of the Nivea and hair dye.
- 3 x Clear Hair & Scalp Therapy Shampoo. On sale for $5.99. Had BOGO coupon (so one bottle didn't count toward my bonus points balance as the entered it as a 2002 FPC - I expected that so had added some extra to my cart) and used two $3 peelies from the bottles themselves = $1.99 per bottle. Regular price at Walmart is a few cents less than SDM's sale price, but there were high value peelies and good application toward points.
- 1 x Nivea Q10 Plus giftset on clearance for $14.99. Used $5 coupon = $9.99. I particularly love this deal because I priced it out on the Walmart website, and to buy these sizes individually the cost is just shy of $40. Huge savings.
- 1 x 2 box package of Clairol Nice & Easy. On sale for $6.99. Used $3 coupon = $3.99. Priced individually at Walmart's regular prices, this usually costs me $19+. More if I use another brand as I always need two boxes. I forgot to use my coupon, but the cashier just entered it outside of the transaction and gave me my $3 back. I was thrilled!
- 1 x Heinz rice cereal 227g. $4.79 - $2 Manager's Special store coupon, - $1.50 SmartSource printable = $1.29. Regular price of this is only $2.98 or something at Walmart, but still a good deal and I get points this way.
- 3 x Skinny Cow treats. $1.29 ea. - $1 coupon ea. = $0.29 ea.
- 1 x Clubhouse gravy. $1.99 - no sale, no coupons, but I really needed it for the meal that was already sitting in my slowcooker.

- 2 x one dozen eggs. $3.98 with sale price, plus used $1 coupon = $1.49 ea.
- 2 x Head & Shoulders (Hubby's fave). $4.99 ea, plus used $2.50 WUB2 coupon = $3.74 ea. These are on slightly cheaper at Walmart $4.87 and $4.50 at Co-Op Atlantic. But they don't give me points.

- 2 x Herbal Essences conditioner (my fave). $2.50 ea - $0.50 coupon = $2.00 ea. These are on sale slightly cheaper at Walmart $2.36.
- 1 x Huggie's 216's wipes, just because we happened to be out of wipes and the sale was close enough to Walmart's ($6.50ish?). No coupons.
- 1 x $1.99 Palmolive liquid. Needed it anyway. No coupons.
- 1 x Dove 4 bar package for $3.99. Needed some! No coupon.
- 2 x Johnson's baby Shampoo (the 572ml bottle... more for our money) - 2 x $1.00 coupons.
- They seem to have entered an extra $1 coupon somewhere, but I can't think what it was.
OOP before tax $54.52. (After tax $68.28)
Regular points: 800
Transaction Bonus Points: 18,500
Total earned today: 19,300
I added up the regular price of everything and the sale price, and here is the breakdown (all before taxes):
Regular price totals: $154.47
Price after sales: $86.51
Price after coupons: $54.52
All in all, though it was pretty stressful to try to redo my list on the fly, I feel pretty good about it. Of course, once I got home I replayed it and realized that if my original items had been there, plus the peelies for Clear Therapy, I could have ended with an OOP before tax price of $42 or less and possibly some other bonus points too (if cashier accepted extra bonus point coupons - I have never tried it based on he coupon wording, but sounds like others have had some success). Bummer! This thread is currently associated with: Co-op, Pampers, Pharmaprix, Shoppers Drug Mart, Smart Source, Walmart

Great Shop OP! I see Nivea Q10 pack in your list and I wish again to find it at my SDM. With coupons and sales you saved 65%. By considering the points earned (about $25) you got 80% off regular prices. This is an excellent shopping trip! Thank you for posting.

You did a great job with the shopping and getting the points by buying things that you need. Very thoroughly researched and very detailed posting. It sure helps the rest of us when the posts are so clear and detailed. Thanks!!
