I don't think its a misprint its just SDM is starting to realize how many people go overboard with collecting points. And how many people buy products they would never use or would never use that much in years just to get points. Maybe after all this craziness SDM will realize what lengths people do to collect points. Took a few sour promotions for the points company I worked for to overhaul the whole system and put new limits built into the machines.

Sounds like the 'flu is really bad in Oshawa area
and around the province:
"Lakeridge Health in Oshawa is asking people with mild forms of flu to stay away from the ER department. The message comes as the hospital ER is packed with patients, and concerns that people with respiratory illness who come into the hospital will spread disease to others."

Yup , its much worse this year than last year.
Everyone in my family already got it , but all of us are fine now
Even my parents got it and they even took a Flu shot ! I think the flu shot only covers a few strains of the flu virus like 2-3 of the most common strains . There mut be dozens maybe 50 + strains and variations of the flu virus, so if the flu shot doesn't cover that particular strain , you will still get the flu even if you take the flu shot

Sorry about your family.
Older people have a poorer response to the flu shot than younger people, especially if they have other health conditions. Older people should have the 'flu shot as soon as it is available -- no waiting.
There is a two week period when the flu vaccine begins to work, after you receive the shot. So people can still have the 'flu if they have been exposed.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report 29 states with high rates of ‘flu. And it’s not over yet. They are recommending people get the 'flu shot.

A friend got the 'flu, after having the 'flu shot.
Why?
Two of the 3 strains were predicted right. The third strain was not right on, so some people weren't fully protected.
Plus my friend has a chronic health condition, so the immune system is not that strong
Plus family members got the flu (2x since November
) and my friend was taking care of them.

Sorry your client got sick.
I think it's a little more complicated. Depends on the client's health before the flu shot, depends on if the client was exposed at the same time as the flu shot, depends on the number of people who get the flu shot (protects others around them
), and depends on the strength of the virus each year. The virus strength goes in cycles of about 7 years and I think we got the peak (virus is strongest).

Exactly. I think there is a lot of misconceptions surrounding the flu shot, one of which is that the flu shot can give you the flu. It cannot.

I was watching Sanjay Gupta MD last night on CNN, he said up to two weeks after the flu shot you are still not protected, so it takes a while.
Add me on twitter and I'll add you back! Just mention you are from SC!

I am glad that you can get it at Pharmaplux/Rexall in Ontario. I believe that many people get the flu at the same time that they get the flu shot because they catch it in the doctors office waiting room while waiting for the shot itself.

Really good article about the 'flu season this year.
Boston mayor declared a public health emergency for the 'flu.
Their key messages:
Tell patients to stop thinking about themselves?
It's not all about YOU.

Looks like the 'flu shot did not work so well for seniors this year. Some are getting sick. Too bad.

No, but like the client mentioned, I was sick for over a month last time I got it, my doc said it happens. The sickness is nowhere near as severe nor dangerous as the flu, but I was tired and drained for weeks, ate little, had a temperature for a week but never reached a fever1 - not something I would want to go through again
