In June so far I helped a dog listed on Winnipeg Lost Dog Alert on FB get back to it's owner - the doggie was spotted nearby crossing Bishop Grandin(yikes!) and with the help of the kibble that I brought with me we were able to coax him out of the bushes A few days ago listed a found kitty on Winnipeg Lost Cat Alert on FB and took said kitty to the vets after spending a good while looking for and capturing her - she was very dirty and scared but full of love to anyone who would dare pet her - she is now being fostered as they search for her owners via ear tattoo information. Gave away 4 used tires free (they disappeared quickly) gave a large box of toiletries, cleaners and foodstuff to a new neighbour who is new to the country(I'll teach her some couponing/deal finding tricks once her English is a bit more improved or my Arabic improves ). Today donated 5 pairs of old prescription glasses to the optometrist where they will in turn donate to folks who need them.
In May I ran a 5km charity run for West Broadway Youth Outreach and collected/donated over 20 pairs of used but still usable sneakers for kids in their after school programs to potentially use.
For April I want to help bring awareness to a fundraiser that my friend and her family are doing for a childrens' cancer fund here in Winnipeg. Conor is a little boy who is the same age as my little guy and my friend is Conors' auntie. What an amazing, courageous and strong little boy and mama Morgan.
I purchased a beautiful turquoise infinity bracelet and it is so soft! Every time I wear it I am just reminded of the blessing that the Pisni family has been given with Conor. Please take a peek at this local winnipeg news segment explaining a bit of his story as reposted on youtube:

Every month this year I have made resolutions to donate/help/participate etc and for the month of March it was to donate needed items to Craig Street Cats. Canadian Tire just so happened to throw their scratch card in the mix to make it even better. A BIG shoutout to several SC'ers locally who helped me get more scratch cards (fitzgirl and debragirl31 and my neighbours and friends who also gave me cards).
I purchased: 2x 40lb bags of wood pellets, 284 units of wet cat food (20 single tins and 22x 12 pak boxes). For $194.66 worth of product I paid out of pocket $22.66. I used 24x $5 scratch cards, 19x $2.50 coupons for cat food, $2 in CT$$. For roughly 88% savings.
Bonus: 4 people assisted me (my bestie Merie Ann mwah! my two kids and their friend - I'm hoping that the kids will see that not everything is about getting, that giving is great too!). I've thrown in a pic of the products minus the 40lb bags of wood pellets which are languishing in the garage. This thread is currently associated with: Canadian Tire, GarageLast edited by wendyjane; Wed, Jun 19th, 2013 at 02:58 PM.

What a great lesson to teach your kids. What a great donation. They will be so happy to receive it. So many people think they can't donate because they have no extra. But with coupons and things like CT scratch cards it makes it so affordable to donate. How can we not. Really. You are a wonderful lady
