There are lots more kitties in the world who need a forever home, and I hope you find one you love!

We've never gotten cats from the SPCA here, we've always gotten them through the newspaper or from Kijiji. It was never important for us to have a purebred.

Any kitty is a beautiful kitty! (no, these aren't ours....)

That five month old tabby is sweet, and that's a great age! It would be nice for your kitty to have a friend!

Cath, don't worry about what breed it is, most shelters don't have purebred anyway. Go and meet them and see how they act, if they are loving, like other cats etc.

I agree the SPCA is failing, for plenty more reasons than mentioned above and would personally not adopt from them, but if they are the only shelter near you, better a shelter than an irresponsible backyard breeder on kijiji

I love Grumpy Cat I was looking for a snowshoe Siamese but they cost about $500 for a kitten. Someone in my class might be getting rid of a Russian blue Persian all shots declawed but its in the hamilton area.

Ragdolls have long hair, Siamese have short
You can see a list of popular breeds here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cat_breeds
But again, most shelters call them a breed that they really are not

I love Norwegian Forest Cats and Maine Coons, big long haired tabby cats that you can snuggle

Cath, we have a Ragdoll cross - and she's got the best parts of being a Ragdoll, I think, mixed with tabby. She was a surprize in the litter she was in, born to two regular tabbies - and also had a sibling which was a showshoe (which is a shorthair, compared to a Ragdoll which is longhair).

    Snowshoe

    Ragdolls

Just a note that Ragdolls cannot be outdoors cats - the reason they are called ragdolls is that they go floppy, like a ragdoll. Sometimes if you walk toward a Ragdoll cat that is standing, she will just go down on the floor. If they were out on the street and a car approached, they would be most likely to lie down.

Our Taffy the Ragdoll cross has the beautiful colouring, and the very soft 'bunny' fur, as it's called. She's got the gorgeous blue eyes of the breed, so that's special.
What I really DO like about the tabby part she has is the shape of her head - it's a regular tabby head, not pointed and wedge-shaped like a typical Siamese. She's extremely docile and loving, a really lovely lap cat.

She was born white, then the colouring slowly came on over the next year. First she got a brownish nose and ear tips, then it just was fascinating to see her colouring change.
Also, Ragdolls are relatively large cats - Taffy is large in size, but not fat, she's about 8.5 lbs.

In our area, the cost of a pure Ragdoll can be from $500-800+.
