ExpiredALL FLYERS LAST TWO WEEKS AT THIS STORE (not sure about other Maxis). Info' at bottom of post.
Not sure where to put this, but here it is!
Normally in Canada, a store's policy is one coupon per product - sometimes per family or transaction! - which means you can't have, say, two Iogo coupons (75c) used towards one 200mL bottle of Iogo @ 1.17$ and get it for free, with money back (in theory).
However!
If you like shopping at Maxi, I suggest going to the one on Masson in Montreal. They offer price-matching and they stack coupons (but won't give you money back, if it should go over the purchase price).
For example, I had two coupons for Red's Hot Sauce any size - one for 1$ and one for 75c - and it was 50% off. After the % off, it cost 1.62$. Minus 1$ for one coupon and 62c for the other (again, you can't be "paid" 13c to take a product from the store), that equals free :D
And you can stack as many as you want as long as they are physically different. This means you could stack:
- Price-matching
- An in-store coupon
- A magazine cut-out
- A manufacturer's coupon mailed to you (i.e. Save.ca)
- A printable coupon
towards the same item, and the cashiers will take it without question. Note that in-store coupons are one per family, and cashiers abide by that. Otherwise, there's no restrictions.
You could also do the following:
- Price-matching
- An in-store coupon
- A magazine cut-out
- A physically different magazine cut-out
And it's OK, too.
Note that if a coupon is the same but has a different UPC, it doesn't work either. UPCs do not matter. Coupons must actually look different. If the coupon is obviously the same and just a different size (a good example is Yoplait Source manufacturer coupons), that doesn't count either. It's still considered the same coupon.
Also, from my understanding to-date, other stores' coupons are not honoured; but hey, does it really matter when you can stack the bejeebers out of everything else!
Another scenario:
You have two BOGO coupons for Steamer's. You bring two Steamer's to the cashier and present both coupons. This doesn't work. You need to actually buy the first to get the other for free; however, what you CAN do is bring OTHER coupons for the first one and use it towards that one - as many as you want, following the rules above, until it's as close to free as you want - and THEN use the BOGO on the other one. If you can get enough coupons towards the first product to make it free, it's still considered "bought" and thus the BOGO can be used with the next Steamer's, even if you actually pay 0.00$ for the first Steamer's. This is useful for Glade coupons which offer 5$ off a 10$ purchase. You can buy five candles for 10$ and use three 2$-off coupons, and then the 5$WUS10$ coupon, and 10$ will be subtracted from your bill. Now, take note that the total coupon value is 11$, but that 1$ cannot be used as money-back or towards tax (as explained in the next paragraph).
One more thing to note: even if on the back of the coupon it mentions "tax included in coupon value" or something similar, coupons won't be used towards tax - only towards the total product worth pre-tax. You will always pay the tax on a product, regardless how many coupons you bring. The best you can get is free pre-tax. You also pay the full amount of tax since coupons are an after-the-fact value i.e. if something is 5.00$ but 5.65$ after tax, and you use three coupons worth 5.25$, the cashier jots 5.00$ of coupon values into the computer and you pay 65c in tax.
Summary
- Price-match
- Stack coupons that are physically different
- No other-store coupons
- No money back on coupon value, should coupons be worth more than the pre-tax value
- Coupons cannot be used towards tax
- UPCs don't matter; if a coupon is physically the same but with different UPCs, it won't work
- You can use coupons to get a product for free and then use a BOGO on it; this works, since even if the coupons bring the first product down to free, it's still considered "bought"
Have fun.
To clarify the "physically the same" bit, here's an example of a coupon with a different size that is still considered the same, thus not stackable:
Yoplait Coupon [Vertical]
Yoplait Coupon [Horizontal]
One's vertical, one's horizontal. Considered the same.
FLYERS LAST TWO WEEKS.
That means if you have a flyer from last week (Thurs. 14th-Wed. 20th), THOSE DEALS ARE STILL GOOD (with proof) FROM THURS.21st-WED 27th at our store.
Any Quebec flyer works this way, not just our store's. We also don't abide by "this day only" sales i.e. Esposito's daily fruit specials. As long as the special has occurred the week before or if it is on-going this week, then we will still price-match it.
The iffy thing is, if it's Sunday the 24th and bananas are 0.86$/kg on Monday the 25th only, then you can't price-match that into the future, even if it's technically part of "this week"'s flyer. You have to come back Monday or any day after that up til Wednesday April 4th to get bananas for 0.86$/kg. This is why I shop on Thursdays, because all of the prior week's flyers are valid, regardless "this day only" stuff.
That's mostly what I use SmartCanuck's website for: "Expired" flyers, because as per our store policy, last week's flyer is not "expired" yet.Last edited by Yusshin; Sun, Mar 24th, 2013 at 02:41 AM.

Finally the people in the east can take advantage of stacking. London Drugs in the west has been great for this and some stacking is also allowed at SOF

Think I should mention that all stores are different... This Maxi might do it, but can't be guaranteed others will, so don't be disappointed if you get to a til at Maxi in [x] and they don't stack
Since coupon policies change by store; there's a basic "outline" for it for all Maxis, but some build on it, some don't.
Ours just happens to be suppperrr lenient :D and goodies for us!Because of fake prints, stacking manus is no longer allowed
But you can still stack Coupon Zone + 1x Manu, like other Maxi / Loblaw Stores

Yusshin!
Wow! That sounds like fantasy. We have a MAXI here in Gatineau too, I'm going to study this and see what happens. Sounds too good to be true. London Drugs too, wish we had some here in Ottawa. The saving possibilities would be outragious. Thank you for sharing andworth trying. WOW. Merci encore!

Never heard of London Drugs (Ontario/Quebec); is it a Central/Western Store?
And I know how it works at the Masson Maxi 'cause I work there
I helped one lady from eBay (she's also on this board, but I don't know her name) save 250$ in coupons on a ~550$ purchase (after coupons/price-matching, she paid ~220$). Lots of free cereal in that order, and tons of free shampoo, just to name a few things.
I went in with a list worth 80$ and only paid 26$, too, after price-matching, coupons and 10% Employee Discount. Pretty good!
Also got 55$ worth of free Mini-Wheats and Krave (same cereal as the eBay lady) about two or three weeks ago after price-matching to 2.49$@IGA. Total awesomecakes.Because of fake prints, stacking manus is no longer allowed
But you can still stack Coupon Zone + 1x Manu, like other Maxi / Loblaw Stores

Oh, goodness! I forgot to mention something (and I will edit the first post to reflect this).

Not true.
eta: You cannot even use Maxi's previous weeks flyer to get a hold over deal, but you can get a raincheck
If I were you I would put the written policy on here and only for your store you should not speak for all quebec stores. You will have people running around with 2 weeks worth of flyers looking like idiots trying to pm and get last weeks deals.
I would like to see all you have stated backed up by a store polcy. I think you have that obligation when you make statements such as yours. Maxi is not a mom and pop store , by the seat of your pants policy maker.Last edited by Patty Smyth; Sun, Mar 24th, 2013 at 10:23 AM. Reason: eta

It won't work in LaSalle Maxi for sure, they even don't allow to stack CZ and a manufacturer coupon.
