i was at superstore yesterday and was overcharged for my campbell soup by 50cents. the customer service lady was only going to give back my 50 cents until i mentioned SCOP then she gave me the whole amount back. I think a lot of stores probably require the customer to bring it up because they don't want to lose money? not totally sure though.

I've used the SCOP at our Walmart several times here, most recently this weekend, a bonus pack of olay cream was marked on the shelf for $19.97, and it came up as $23.97, so I got it for $9.97. Had to go to customer service and deal with a supervisor, but it was worth it. Our walmart is terrible, I've only lived here for 5 months, and have used the SCOP 4 times!

I am less then impressed with No Frills' customer service in general.

Does SCOP apply if a cashier enters wrong product code at the cashier?
Say you bought parsleys and he entered coriander. Does that fall under SCOP? It's an human error, but there are cashiers who constantly make this kind of mistakes and I am thinking SCOP should be covering for those too. Any ideas?

At Superstore, a cashier wrong entered a product code and I went to customer service to correct it. I was told that the SCOP does not apply since it was the cashier's mistake and not the stores (didn't scan in wrong, it was human error) and they didn't cover the full cost of the product, only refunded me the difference.

sometimes getting them to follow the "La politique d’exactitude des prix" seems like pulling teeth though, sometimes i even have to point at the sign they have hanging up. i always get a look like i'm trying to steal something whenever a price is wrong. they always offer to give it to me at the reduced price instead of free.

is that allowed? in quebec there is an 800# to call if any store refuses, and the store gets into trouble since its law.

I called the 800 number once and I got the impression that it's not a supervised program. Guy I talked to was actually very relaxed about the while thing. He said that it was a volunteer program, companies only sign in if they would like to be a part of the program, so not every company honors it.

I have used the code several times. When they opened a new SDM in our town, the prices were wrong several times. I received free Kleenix, free 16 pack of Royale bath tissue, etc. Some of the cashiers are aware of how it works, others try to give you the lower price, and you have to explain that no, I get the item for free. No Frills was the only place that I've had trouble with. I had to get a refund and then she tried to sell it back to me at the lower price, and I had to explain about 3 times that it was free. Walmart is the best, no problems. And I agree with Sally888, Zellers is the worst. No wonder that they don't do the code of practice. They would be losing millions! You always have to watch them ring everything in, or else you'll be standing in the Customer Service Line to get a refund.

My local Food Basics seems to have taken all their SCOP signs down off the cheque writing pad things. They're been replaced with "thanks for checking the bottom of your cart" poster thingys.

I went to Metro and saw a sale sign on something that was on the flyer last week but which they had no available stock then. I took 2 bags. The regular price came up so I told the cashier it had a marked down price and I followed her to the aisle where she took the sign off. Then she adjusted the price for both bags. I mentioned the Scanner Price Accuracy Code and she had this 'confused' look on her face. (C'mon) So I pointed at the sign in front of me and read portions of it. She tried to call someone on the phone, nobody home I guess, she hung up. Then she just made me pay the lower price for 1 bag. Sweet.

I was at Superstore today and purchased a toy for my granddaughter when it scanned it came up as 12.99 the sign on the shelf said originally 18.99 blowout price 9.44, the cashier paged for a price check and nobody came finally another staff member walked by the frustrated cashier asked her she said no its 12.99 I waited for someone to actually price check the item and when nobody came I paid for my groceries so the cashier could help others and then went to the shelf and removed the sign and took it to the cashier, she then had to get a override on her till so customer service came over I said since the item scanned wrong I get it for free she said SCOP does not apply to clearout items, I of course showed her the posting at the till and said where does it say this she said its the law, clearance items are not included in SCOP,,,hmmm this did not sit right with me. Since I already had had enough for today I paid for the toy and left and I am not a happy camper so tomorrow I am returning the toy and getting my money back them I am going to go to the toys and pick up another one and when it does not scan correctly I am going to get it for free. I do not like the way the customer service lady handled this and now I am out to make a point.

I'm afraid returning it won't be easy either. Toys on clearance are final sale - there's an F next to it on your receipt i'd bet. But you should still go back and demand scop - call a mgr if needed.
