SDM gift cards to buy bus pass?

Hi everyone,

While I have a Shopper's Optimum card, I do not take full advantage of it (have never redeemed any points because I don't have enough!). I recently learned that by purchasing gift cards, I earn points. I was wondering whether I can then use this gift card to purchase a monthly bus pass. I know that they do not award points for bus passes/tickets, so I was wondering if I go about it this way, I would still be able to take advantage of the points? Any ideas?

I don't see why not - you can use your gift card for anything except buying other gift cards and the prescriptions at the pharmacy I believe

my store wouldn't let me, they say that the bus pass does not belong to them blabla

I'm pretty sure it's up to the individual store.

I've read on here of some stores that allow it, and some that don't.

You should ask the manager at your local store.

They can revoke points if a gc is used to buy non pointable items and like others, many stores are now refusing GC purchases of other GCs, phone cards and transit. Mine stopped accepting GCs for them about a year ago

i always buy transit pass with GCs and also buy prescription with GC.

I was able to successfully purchase a bus pass using a SDM GC
The cashier did the transaction without any problems.

Great news! Stick with that SDM as most stores don't allow it. As other posters have mentioned, it all depends on the individual store.
