Here's a big hug from me and Trent to help you sleep ((HUG))
I have the hippo scentsy buddy
I do find their lavender scent quite calming. I hope it works for you.
Also pure lavender oil works well, Trent went through a phase of that and I put lavender oil right on his pillow case (just one or two drops) Also as weird as it sounds his pediatrician told us to give him Ovalteen in warm milk at bedtime, apparently there is something in the Ovalteen that calms you. It also worked. Good luck my sweet

I love cinnamon scents but think it would be too stimulating. I think I will try lavender

It's possible, smell is a very strong trigger. You would need to find something you like and that brings you good memories. So while things like lavender, vanilla could help, if you don't like one of them it wouldn't do you any good. I love bergamot, I love to mix it with sweet orange and neroli. If you don't like earl grey though you probably wouldn't like bergamot
I have read that is a common side effect of codeine. Hopefully you are able to figure something out! And I sleep with a body pillow... it's not quite a teddy bear lol.

Oh, and I'll check my oil notes from when I studies aromatherapy to see if any are good for nightmares, I believe a few are but it's been awhile.

I have an alergie to morfine, codine breaks down into the body into morfine which is why they think I have been having such bad nightmares

Ok, so I found a few. From when I was studying it was recommended to use a top, middle and base note in order to create a balanced mix. If you are using them for scent only, pick ones you like. If you were going to do massage with them, some can cause photosensitivity. And Aniseed is to be used with caution, it apparently can be rather addictive, slow your heart rate and stuff, but is really good for what you are wanting. Any way, here are some that are uplifting, reduce fear and anxiety, or bring good dreams.
Top Notes
Lavandin
Mandarin
Bergamot
Grapefruit
Bitter orange
Middle Notes
Juniper berry
Geranium
Lavender
Aniseed *
Melissa (lemon balm)
Base Notes
Neroli
Rose
Cedarwood

I'm concerned that the Scentsy products are synthetic and would aggravate your respiratory passage/lungs. Have you considered using pure essential oils? You can find much better quality at a health food store although I did find some at SDM years ago.
Can you have the codeine dosage reduced? Or the prescription replaced with something else?
Do you like herbal tea? Chamomile with unpasteurized honey used to help me lots. Also, if you exercise, avoid doing so for several hours before heading to bed. Same goes for eating.
When nights are really bad for me and I can't sleep, and I can't wake dh up to comfort me either, lol, I give up and just get out of bed and find something quiet to do until I'm tired enough to get back to sleep. Most times it gets me out of that waking nightmare state (I totally know what those are like unfortunately) and the anxiety subsides more quickly than if staying in bed.
Hope you find something that works for you soon

Good morning ladies! My package is here and ready to mail. The car passenger seat thought it was a passenger this morning... I'm a little worried how much postage is going to be! Hopefully it's at its destination by the end of the week.
