    Hi

I've never purchased anything from Amazon.COM.

I want to buy something and the new model is only available on .COM.

.CA only sells the old model. I don't want the old model so want to buy from .COM.

What are duty fees like for shipping to Canada? I've been burned by US duties before so don't know whether Amazon has some kind of arrangement that can fix this.

    Thanks for any help!

I think it really depends on what the item is.

The only thing I ever ordered from there was a record (yes, vinyl!) and there were no duties.

Have you exhaustively searched for the item in Canada?

Exhaustively. The only place that sold it in Canada is now out of stock and doesn't have a timeline for restocking

A lot of times Amazon.com will NOT ship to Canada. If you add the product to your cart it will let you know if it will ship to Canada before you check out. I buy from Amazon.com all the time but I live a stones throw away from Niagara Falls NY so I just have it shipped to the UPS store on Military Road and go and pick it up there. I have only once been stopped at the border and made to pay duties but that was because I bought a 51 inch TV from California and it was a bit over the daily allowance for cross border shopping. LOL
