In a store, dh saw on a mag cover that Davey Jones had passed away. He said to the cashier "you probably don't know who that is, do you?" Nope she says. I opened my mouth to say something and then closed it again, realizing that trying to put it in perspective by mentioning The Beatles was also going to be totally lost on her. Sigh.

I should have referenced Smashmouth and Shrek and told her that The Monkeys recorded that song waaaay back. That would have done it - too little, too late.
