Oh, my printed coupons weren't Target ones, they were the Fruttare ones.
They didn't know if they were allowed to even accepted printed coupons - even though they were from Smartsource, which is the exact same print program they use.
Now I just carry their policy with me.
But yes, you are correct that the print TARGET coupons always say 1 per customer, unlike the booklets you get in store.

I had another problem at another Target.
The cashier said that I'm only allowed to use 4 coupons per transaction and it doesn't matter if coupons are for different products. I was also using $2 CoverGirl target coupon and $2 CoverGirl manufacturer's coupon. She said it's one or the other, not both.
Coupon policy says I can use both. She also says that my coupon expires today and I said yes, I can use it today.
She didn't know what to do so she called her manager. The manager also said that it's 4 coupons per transaction, max. I had to show him Target's coupon policy.
I was able to use 4 like coupons for coffee, 2 Target coupons and 2 manufacturer's coupons for CoverGirl.
Only this manager knows about the coupon policy because I educated him. What about the other managers and the rest of the staff? They only go by what their manager tells them and I'm pretty sure that I will encounter the same problem when I go back to use coupons. I posted this on their Facebook page so will see how they answer.

Wow, seems like you can't catch a break with Target and couponing! My mom had an issue last night, was refused to accept a coupon on a price match and was so frustrated she was almost in tears. Even after showing the coupon policy she was still denied. She went back today to talk to a manager and of course they told her that the coupon should have been accepted, and she told them that the cashiers need to all be refreshed on coupon policies because if it happens to her once more she won't step foot in their store and Walmart will get all of her business. It seems that everybody is confused and every cashier thinks something different! I haven't run into any issues thus far, and am so grateful as I would probably give up after one failed attempt. Good on you for sticking up for yourself (and all couponers out there) and continuing to shop at their store despite the trouble they're giving you!

The coupon policy says that it's 4 coupons per household. So I lied and said that DD has her own appartment and lives alone so she was able to buy one bag of Van Houtte and I got 4 bags.

It is unfortunate that you guys have experienced so many problems with coupons. I have also had the same problems, but nothing that a calm talk didn't take care of. (There were times where I have been at Walmart, and just wanted to straight up start screaming.) One time a MANAGER at the Target I went to didn't even know how to enter a manufacturer coupon. I actually had to show her how to do it since I have seen how the others cashiers do it. She thought that she could just scan a manufacturer coupon, but I told her only the Target coupons scan. Sometimes I wish they would just log me onto their POS and let me handle the rest LOL. I feel like their staff have not been trained much in regards to coupons, but they more than make up for it with their excellent customer service. (In my experience at least, haha)

Target needs to train their employees right - it should be part of their job to learn simple policy.

I am so glad you brought this up. I know I was anti Target because I was and still get hassles then I thought well maybe it's just me... There are 3 Targets I can get to and one is awful, still is and believe always will be, have tried at different intervals....nope still sucks. BUT I have found one that is more customer friendly and seem to just want you to be happy. And processes, keep overage, more than 4 whatever and just awesome. The third one I went once and they were still asking for the flyer to approve the sale of item...as a PM.....so I think you need to keep hunting till you find one that is customer friendly...seems to be kind of like WM (I participate or I don't, I think this is the rule and I have the power to enforce it, and that is what it is today, this moment), it was and still is frustrating knowing that there is still a problem with these issues and the clearance items aren't that great apart from the Christmas stuff and furry baby stuff I was lucky to get but still looking/hoping. Sorry couponmummy still having issues, you're not alone. I have not had any success with FB wall either...all it is is a wall. I love Target but only for that location and hope nothing changes ever there.

They get reimbursed all the time from these coupons..so I don't even know what the issue is ? ..unless the coupon specifically says one per person or not more than 1 cpn can be used at a time ..I think some of the P & G cpns say not more than 4 like cpns can be used at any given time or some thing like that.
Target had a horrible rollout in Canada with their expensive prices ..ofcourse the prices were never going to be like Target US ..but they were not even close to other CDN retailers..they shot themselves in the foot with that ..now they are shooting themselves in the other foot with policies like these.
They are just starting to look like a cleaner version of Zellers.
I hope Target , Wal Mart & Amazon go after each other ..so that we consumers win ..he he

They don't even have a Canadian website with prices & online ordering yet !
Mom & Pop stores are into ecommerce thesedays ..not sure which age these guys are living in .
If not online ordering atleast they should have a lit of merchandise & prices online..so customers know what merchandise they are selling..brands , prices etc.

Yeah ..I know . Why couldn't they take 4 of each ? I can understand not taking 6 or 8 of each ..but 4 of each should be fine.
Coupon Policy
Target® Stores Coupon Policy
Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it's easy to use them at our stores. When accepting coupons, we follow the guidelines below. These guidelines apply to all coupons accepted at Target (checkout coupons, internet coupons, mailed coupons, coupons from newspapers and magazines, etc.).
- Coupons must be presented at checkout and before your transaction is completed.
- Each coupon is reviewed at checkout to ensure compliance with these guidelines.
Manufacturer and Target Coupons:- Target accepts one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item (unless prohibited by either coupon).
- Limit of four identical coupons per household, per day, unless otherwise noted on the coupon.
- Item purchased must match the coupon description (brand, size, quantity, colour, flavour, etc.).
- Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.
- We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
- All applicable sales taxes are paid by the guest at the full value of the item.
- Coupons can be redeemed against an item for which a guest holds a valid rain check, unless coupon has expired.
- Target only accepts coupons that are valid in Canada.
Internet (Print-at-Home) Coupons:- We gladly accept valid internet coupons that contain a clear and scannable bar code.
- We do not accept internet coupons for free items with no purchase requirements.
Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) Coupons:- BOGO coupons cannot be combined (i.e. you cannot use two BOGO coupons on two items and get both for free). Unless stated otherwise on the coupon, the use of one BOGO coupon requires that two valid items be presented at checkout. The full retail price of one item will be charged to the guest and the second item will be discounted by its full retail price.
- A second cents-off coupon of the same type cannot be redeemed toward the purchase price of the first item.
- If any Target BOGO coupon is used, one additional manufacturer coupon may be used on the first item.
- If any manufacturer BOGO coupon is used, one additional Target coupon may be used on the first item.
Returns:- Returns of items purchased using manufacturer coupons as a form of payment may receive coupon amount returned in the form of a Target GiftCard.
- Excessive returns of items purchased with coupons may be denied.
Exclusions:- Coupons are void if copied, scanned, transferred, purchased, sold, prohibited by law, or appear altered in any way.
- We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
- Some items may not be available at all stores.
- We do not accept mobile coupons.
- We do not accept mail-in rebate coupons.
- We do not accept expired coupons.
- We reserve the right to accept, refuse, or limit the use of any coupon.

Hi! I'm glad I found this rant as I was just about to start one myself! Just got back from Target and PM'd the Gaylee Butter and Whipped Cream for $2.00 - I presented my $2.00 off coupons and the cashier said, "I'm sorry, we don't give anything for free here but we can call my manager over to verify" so I said, "yes, let's do that" and he came over and she explained the coupons to him and he said, "that is correct, we don't give anything away for free here" and I asked if it was because of the price match, for instance, what if they had the same products on sale for $2.00 - could I use my $2.00 off coupons then and he said, "Again, no, we do not give anything away for free here so we wouldn't accept those $2.00 off coupons". I told them to remove the items and I would buy them at Walmart. Then, she asked him to confirm if she could accept the other coupons I had! ($3.00 off coffee that was $4.49 and $1.50 off hairspray that was $3.97 and he said these were fine. What the heck?? I would rather shop at Walmart anytime then...they never give me a hard time with coupons!

SO frustrating when they basically imply that you are trying to steal from the store, when they would have been reimbursed the money for both products. My mom experienced the same thing. I redeemed two FPCs there the other day, and wasn't given any of that garbage to deal with. Sorry that you had to go through that. Seems to be hit or miss with Target when it comes to couponing
