I was at Walmart last night for the Degree deal
2 scents of Degree were shelf priced at $1.47 so I got 12
(also had the $1.00 off tear pad coupons from Atlantic SuperStore)
I got to the cash and they rang up at $1.97.
I had to wait about 5 minutes for a price verification check and they were indeed supposed to be $1.47.
Cashier had to void the order and ring it in again. I KNOW one should have been free, but he didn't offer and there were about 5 people in the line behind me.
I didn't want to make things difficult for the cashier, keep people waiting even longer, (they had been through the price verification time already) so I never tried for SCOP
Does anyone else feel bad enough for keeping others waiting that they will forgo a SCOP?This thread is currently associated with: Real Canadian Superstore RCSS, Walmart

I have... especially when, 1. I've gotten such a great deal like you had, 2. the amount of money saved through SCOP was nominal (it looks like you would have only saved about .47c), and 3. when the embarrassment/annoyance factor is there (because seriously... what's a few cents when you have saved 10, 20, 30 dollars?).
On the flip side, there have been times that I've fought tooth and nail for SCOP (usually at Walmart because they can be difficult) when it was justified.

I won't forgo SCOP.The store can open up another register for the waiting customers or go to customer service.

I won't forgo it either as I believe that's why they give such a hard time in the first place. I ask the cashier to cancel my items and let the other customers go by while it's being checked.

I ask "do you follow the SCOP?" (which most stores do)........if they say yes, then I explain (if they don't know) the procedure.

I got a SCOP this am at SDM (Tetley Tea). Sometimes I'll point it out to them while other items are being rung in but this morning I waited until I later checked my receipt to let them know and bring it to their attention. You could even go back in and ask for SCOP (if the old price is still up couldn't you??)Upon checking my recept I also discovered that I was charged 1.99 for mineral water that I DID NOT EVEN BUY. WTH!! Also at Metro this am I had an individual cinnamon roll ring in at 4.49 while the rest were marked 1.29. Thought there was a chance I could get it free but NO. I was told someone put the wrong sticker on this item. I don't usually care who has to wait.
Open an account with Tangerine (ING) using my ORANGE KEY...29564343S1. When you open an account and deposit 100.00 you and I will both receive $25.00. Wait that's not all.....I will also send you 15.00 worth of coupons from your wishlist as a way of saying thanks.

I always ask they hate it but too bad if the staff was doing their jobs properly then it wouldn't be an issue. They are putting items in the wrong places not changing tags etc. I want to pay the price the tag says when i pick up an item or else SCOP

Never feel bad if you ask for SCOP even if the line is full! It's there to protect us so that we don't get ripped off. Usually there is a description of scop right by the debit machine at the cashier's till. It's the table you would use to sign a receipt ect. Looks like this

I always ask as if I don't, all the other customers afterwards will be paying more for the same product which is unfair. I did a SCOP this month at Walmart and had to get a CSM over to verify (which held up the line) but she then immediately sent someone out to change the signs. So as bad as you feel about holding up the the line, think about how many people you are helping down the road who want to buy the same product.

If management doesn't have enough staff, that's their problem, not yours. People behind you in line should get that (but I understand that they don't). I always think, even if it's .50, that's MY .50, not theirs!

I would also like to add that I am a very timid and shy person. It took me some time to muster the guts to ask for a SCOP but I found if I explain the situation to the people behind me ... They actually become intrigued about my transaction! I can't tell you how many times people in the line up stopped me at the doors wanting to know more. I feel the knowledge we can all spread for free is the best brag every!

I don't always ask for SCOP. Depends on the store. We have a small drugstore nearby where they support the community and give lots of high school students their first part time job. On the occasions where I could have asked, I haven't. I've just let them know they need to change the sign.
I have been at SDM and have asked for SCOP because they are repeat offenders for me -- with the same product! When I tell them on Monday that something is not marked correctly, and I go back in on Wednesday and it hasn't been fixed, I don't feel sorry for them.
At my Save-On-Foods I never ask for SCOP because they automatically offer it in the event of a pricing error. They are not many stores where that happens! So many coupons....so little time!
