The final frontier for me has always been to control my weight.
I made a concentrated effort 4 years ago and lost 80 pounds. Over the course of the 4 years, I put 65 of it back on
.
I decided on Boxing Day, that now was the time. I stopped eating junk, but still had my diet pepsi.
I joined a very small quiet gym on Jan 10
I have given up pop
I go to the gym 3 days on and 1 off
I signed up online for a place to record my calories (I have never kept a food journal - this is turning out to be a major key piece!!)
I bought a food scale in the last week (first time for this as well) and I use it!
Since Jan 10, when I dared step back on a scale, I have lost 24 pounds!!!

simplybea, well congrats to you for finding the strength to try it again.
There are many of us on sc that have struggled with gaining weight, losing weight , regaining, relosing.....you get the idea. There is a thread in the Tea Room and although we have always tried to set a date deadline for a certain number of pounds to lose ( like incentive ) many of us find it helpful to share our personal struggles.
Feel free to join us if you would like some friendly banter while you lose!!

I have not committed to the most recent challenge personally as yet, I'm still lazing about enjoying my retirement and this winter has me screaming mad!! Enough snow already! Just knowing the thread is there though, with all the terrific encouraging members makes it wonderful. Hope to see you!

I totes need to jump on that band wagon too, I just need to learn the meaning of self-control with food! I'm good with emotional self-control, but eating... Ehh, I think that's my outlet, haha.

Thank you everyone!! I appreciate the encouragement. I turned 50 in January and I want that to be the halfway mark in my life, so I need to make some changes to insure a healthy next 1/2 century!
. Once I hit 100, I'll set a new goal!!
