My DH's only language is English and even he makes errors. It happens to the best of us. He once said he won a Constellation prize. LOL
But he's a math genius so who cares if he confuses a word here or there. Everyone has their own strengths. Language is my domain. He does my math, and I do all the talkingApply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?). It's sweet and easy with HONEY.

Hmmm, I've never had a problem with the use of "issue" before. Now I think I will be paying more attention to the word though.
My word pet peeve is when a word is mispronounced. The biggest for me is SANDWICH, it is not SAMwich or SAMMY. I am not sure when the "d" was dropped but it drives me nuts, especially when I hear it on commercials!
....am I the only one who double and triple checks their words and sentences in a thread like this, !!

Efforting made its debut a couple of years ago on the big sports radio station in Vancouver. No, people, you are not efforting to bring us a live interview. You are making an effort...and you are making up a word!!! Rant over. As you can tell, it drives me around the bend.
So many coupons....so little time!

I couldn't actually say the word "sandwich" when I was younger so I actually said "sanich" and I sometimes find myself saying that now every once in a while. But I totally understand because it bugs me and I've asked people to point it out to me if I don't notice I've said it that way.
My biggest pet peeve is when people use "big" words incorrectly. Or when I am accused of using a "big word" incorrectly, when, in fact, I did not.
Back to the OP, I understand your frustration, but I think the connotation of a word has a lot to do with an individual's choice of words, as lghend basically said that "issue" has the connotation of being less severe than "problem." I recently read an article about the evolution of the English language and it was absolutely fascinating, especially how social media and the digital age has influenced its evolution.

I can see how that would be annoying. I feel the same way about people spelling "alot" instead of a lot. LOL

Decimate irrates me to no end. It's used wrong all the time. If a flood decimates a farmers crop he still has 90% of his crop. Because decimate means 1 in 10, 10%! Today it's used to mean total destruction, and that's just incorrect.
