Good day, All!
I have a question. My friend told me that if you go into ANY gas station and ask them to turn on their tire air pump they will do it, no charge. Apparently when it says $1 (or whatever amount) on the pump that's just a "requested donation" and if you go inside and ask them to turn it on they kind of have to for free... because it's air.
Does anyone know if this is accurate? This thread is currently associated with: N/A

It's really rare to find free air these days, you just need to check around.
They can charge what they like.

I only know of one gas station that still has the old-style air pump hose (free too). Mind you, it's 110km from my current home. instead I bought a cheapo air compressor from Canadian Tire and it does the job just fine.

The ones I see are little machines not attached to a garage, so I don`t think the cashier could do that.

I am not sure. There is only one station left in my city with a free air pump. The others are 1$ or 2$. There is a lineup at the free one everyday. If the free one is ever taken out I guess I will find out.

I'm going to test it out. I'll go into a gas station, ask them to turn on the air, without offering money and see if they do it or if they tell me I have to put the change in the machine.

We use to go to a auto chain for our car maintenance.
They told us that for their regular customers, if you needed air for your tires just stop by.
They would be glad to let us use the air --for free.
