Ok so I have done a thread for sunscreen for sensitive skin and no I have another question. I am so tired of stuff reacting to my skin and then having dry skin because I rather deal with that than react to a product.
I have been using this St.Ives stuff but didn't really put two and two together because I was also getting these itchy spots that I am reacting to it. duh! so on to a new kind. The only one I could find that says it is safe for sensitve skin is the Aveeno Active Naturals that is fragrance free also. Here is hoping it is ok. this is frustrating. Laundry is another story! lol my skin reacts to fabric softner and alot of laundry detergent. Yes I am weird huh? oh well-makes life interesting right? I also get to really test out company's claims it is safe for sensitive skin! lol Well at least Aveeno is J&J so if it does bother me then maybe they will give me my money back?
My question-anyone out there with sensitve skin that has a similar problem but has found somthing that works?

Well I never used to have sensitive skin.... but after last winter.... I somehow managed to develop rosacea and eczema! I can't use the st ives scrub anymore
Went to the dermatologist, he put me on a 60 freaking day course of antibiotics! and gave me 2 creams.... and that worked like magic!! ( my skin is still an oil slick though...)
anyway..... Im currently using spectro gel cleanser... the stuff from the SDM teen packs.... and cetaphil moisturiser( recomended by my dermatologist)... and I really only get flare ups when I try new products.... Im kinda scared what my face is going to look like after this winter..
I dont have any issues with laundry detergent... so I can't offer any suggestions there....

Keep in mind that using different products and switching products frequently can be making your skin react too. Your skin needs time to get used to a new routine.
I like buying the Tide Free, which is dermatologist tested, I like to think it's better for my skin.

I too use to have the same problem ,, my skin would flare up and bring out
my rosesa (spelling) worse... then one day my face was burning so much I drove into town to Parma Plus in Brighton, and headed for the beauty dept. the gal who runs the dept her name is Chris is a license (spelling ) costemtic person... she cleaned my face off and put on a product and boy did it stop the burning it was the only thing that worked ... the stuff is expensive however they do have specials where you get 20 % off and you can get on seniors days Im not but they give it to me anyway wonder if its because i bring in a huge tray of home made cookies twice a year for the staff.. I have to say the staff is really good at this store
but getting back to Chris she put me on a product and she gave me samples
to use and if i didn have a flare up I purchased the product
so your asking for the name its Declare... its only sold at Pharma Plus stores
and its pricey however I dont mind pricey if it works.. I have used this product almost 4 years.. its not thick nor greasy it soaks in right away
Pharma plus also has gala days they have the rep come in from Declare and they do
up your face so to speak and give out sample and they have a draw for many brands
of cosemtices I have to say I won the last Declare basket over 100.00 in products
but all i have to say the product gives a calming effect to your skin and it cleans your skin, and the moistureizer are wonderful
both my sisters were impressed with this product and most of my friends that have tried it... are using the product also.
I also have to note this company does send a rep to the burn units and gives products free to the patients leaving the unit they fly in and help as much as they can... and there is no animal testing either so thats a big plus for them from me

I have a redness solutions cream from clinique that probably does something similar to what you described shameus. Not sure what the active ingredient is but there is a disclaimer on the back to only use it so many times a week because the chemical it is is strong and not for everyday use.
I find rosacea is a skin condition, but redness in your face may be caused by an allergic reaction to the products you are using, as well as many other things. I don't think I have rosacea cause my skin is not always red.

I use Vaseline Intesive Rescue extra strenght unsented. I don't usually have allergic reactions from the lotion, but I am allergic to the sents of them... so that means I can use most of then since a lot of the unsented still have a sent. I know the last unsented one I bought had a really strong sent to it and I couldn't breathe all night, I called the company and they sent me a coupon for a free one. I have quit buying it from Wal Mart because it seems everytime I buy it from there the lotion has a really strong perfume sent

Depends upon if it's face, or body, I suppose. I have really sensitive skin, too - but people tend to have it for different reasons, and then have different needs.
For my face, I just use a little bit of whatever body lotion or cream I am using; I've given up on getting specific types of face moisturizers...
If you want a totally pure cream for your body, something like Glaxal base is absolutely amazing. It's terribly expensive, though. It's what is used as a base by pharmacists when they mix in other prescription ingredients, though you can buy the container of the base itself over the counter. To get this cheaper, so you can get it under a drug plan if you have one, have your doctor prescribe a compound of Glaxal base with urea (a moisturizer).
Eucerin is also wonderful but pricey...
Anyway for OTC products, the best for super moisturizing are creams, instead of lotions. Shoppers Life brand is good, I just make sure I buy the plainest variety I can find. The big jar goes on sale for $2 once in a while. Vaseline creamy is great, but it's greasy.
For body lotion, I use and have used, anything and everything. Some of the St. Ives lotions are gentler than others - my skin is okay with most of them. There is a difference in products that companies say are for sensitive skin, and those that are hypo-allergenic. St. Ives has at least one which is hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, called Intensive Healing.
Life brand lotion is fine - the yellowish one is exactly like Vaseline Intensive Care lotion. Because I go through so much lotion, I just stock up with what's on sale.... I've tried most of the high-end stuff, and it just doesn't make a difference.
About laundry, my dermatologist says no Tide and no Bounce... Sunlight has been fine for clothes, but lately we've been using Arm and Hammer and ABC, and both are fine. Fleecy dryer sheets.

yes thanks. I am looking for body lotion mostly. I have some good stuff from Avon for my face that seems to be ok. I was actually wondering if my skin is just reacting to the aveeno a bit because I switched too. I am hoping that if I try it for a few days then I will get a better idea. One thing I have noticed is that the aveeno worked better in terms of dry skin than the St.Ives ever has for my skin. I am just trying on a small area tho so that in case I do react that I don't have a reaction in a huge area. Thanks for all the great suggestions tho-I will look into them.
Natalka-it is funny because we can't use tide or bounce because I react! lol I believe the kind we are using currently is Purex and the Purex for sensitve skin fabric softner if needed. So far so good. My goodness tho-if something else is used that has stuff in it-I am soooo itchy all over and I get a rash and it is not so good.

I have sensitive skin and have found that the Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion (oatmeal based, fregrance free) works great. It can be a little pricy, but you can use the $3 Aveeno MC on it.

I have really sensitive skin. I've tried a lot from store brands to expensive ones. I found Debba protective skin cream and conditioner works great for my face. It doesn't burn. Try debcanada.com.

I love the Boots No. 7 Botanics Responsive Moisture Lotion from SDM for my face. I have very sensitive skin, and it calms it right away. I went to a different SDM one day, needing lotion, and they didn't carry the Botanics line, so Itried a different one in the No. 7 line (a heavier lotion), and it stung and I broke out right away. The $15 Botanics one in the tube is the way to go for me!
I really like the unscented Aveeno as a lotion.
Spectro is good as a cleanser, but I've found that the Elizabeth Grant cleanser from The Shopping Channel is milder still. It doesn't leave your skin feeling tight.
Why not try washing your clothes in laundry detergent intended for baby clothes? It's supposed to be good for sensitive skin.
