Part 1
I needed an umbrella stroller for DS and so I kept checking everywhere( even online). I noticed one last year in WM that I really liked( called Roma stroller by Huack-in green & blue) but decided that the clearance price $68 (Reg $84.97) late last year wasn't low enough, seeing that they have umbrella strollers that are regular priced at $49.97( though the print I wanted was unavailable online and in my neighbourhood stores). I thought my best bet was to get one of the Maxi Cosi ones at Target seeing they were going out of business. Well, about 3 wks. ago, I went in WM pharmacy and then decided to check out the strollers while the pharmacy took care of filling my prescription. I was pleasantly surprised by the $48 clearance sticker price on the box. It was the only one there in a box and I didn't hesitate to grab it. I had also asked two other women what they thought of it and they loved it. One of them even pointed out a feature on it that I would not have noticed. The best part is that I only paid $4.24 OOP for it. How? Well, DH's employer gave him a $50 GC since Dec. 2013 as a Christmas token and he gave it to me. I decided that I would get something really useful with that GC but just never found anything prior. We recently assembled it and DS couldn't wait to get in it. As a matter of fact, we couldn't get him out of it so I wheeled him around the house in it for a few minutes and left him watching one of his programs then he wanted out. I am really really happy with this purchase.
Part 2.
I rarely shop at SDM and my personalized offers are often futile. Well, late last month I was emailed an offer for "4000 points if I spend $30" and "20 x points on Lubriderm lotion" but I had no plans to use it. Surprisingly, DH said he wanted to get 5 Keri and 10 Lubriderm lotions that were on sale for $4.99(reg. $9.99) as he had coupons and those sales are not very frequent. He does send stuff overseas to his relatives from time to time as well ). I told him I'd get them since I have that offer. Not being a SDM points expert, I quickly tried to figure out how I could maximize my points after I got all the items I wanted but I felt so overwhelmed
. Thank goodness the cashier was super patient and kind so she allowed me to do multiple transactions. I came up with the following in the 1st trx:
5 x Lubriderm @ $4.99-5 x $2 cpns
5 x Keri @ $4.99 - 5 x $1.50 cpns
The subtotal was $32.40. I got 4000 points and saved $55
In addition, I did 5 individual trx for 1 bottle of Lubriderm- 5 x $2 cpns-each receipt totaled $3.64, $6 savings
I was left with an extra $1.50 cpn in my hand somehow, so I got another bottle of Keri lotion.
In summary, I spent $ 61.23 (incl tax) vs. $159.84(plus tax) & earned 8530 points for 6 keri & 10 Lubriderm lotions. After I was done, I asked myself why hadn't I bought a SDM GC to pay but I believe I saw it mentioned that the payment couldn't be via GC (maybe one of u experienced SDM points specialists can inform me).
BTW..I had noticed several customers with multiple pkgs of 8 pk Life paper towels and I asked one customer the price; he replied $1.99 (reg. $4.49) though the flyer had it for a higher price and the 3 day wknd sale should have supposedly ended. I got 3 pkgs and got 50 points.
I think I did pretty well and now can redeem $30 vs the $10 that I was stuck at forever.lolThis thread is currently associated with: Maxi, Pharmaprix, Shoppers Drug Mart, Target, Via Rail, Walmart
