oh my gosh, this happened last year in August.. We were using our computers and the internet goes off.. I check the phone and its dead. Then a knock on the door.. Its my neighbour all upset, she had cut the cord while pruning a vine . We live on a "leave it to beaver ' street.. we have block parties etc in the summer..
Anyways.. she called Bell before she came to tell us and they said they'd send someone in two days. She said she'd pay for the service call. I told my husband..thats gotta be fixed now.. he is really handy with fixing things so within 15 mins..phone and net back. Service guy shows up in two days and connects properly..
I tell the neighbor not to worry about the charges as stuff happens.. she has 3 growing kids.. we are ok to pay it.. anyways..she keeps telling me she wants to pay.. so I say I'll let her k now when the bill comes in.. never intending to..
A week after she did it.. I come home to find a large potted plant on my porch and a box of Merci chocolate..YUM!! She again reminds me she wants to pay.
At Christmas time, 2 huge boxes of expensive chocolates and a tin of homemade goodies!! .. last w eek.. my hubby is out in the yard and walks in with 2 slices of blueberry pie/cake?? still warm from the oven.. today.. he walks in with 2 slices of warm apple pie/cake..
So two things...........
First of all.. we never did get billed for a service call
Secondly.. I want to attach a note to the cord saying "cut here" would that be wrong?Be sure to click like and post a brag if you get the deal.. It makes my day!!! Flattery may just get you more deals

Does your neighbour know you were never billed for the service call cos clearly, she thinks you were and still feels guilty to this day that you had to "pay" for it. While it's nice to be getting free pies and flowers, I would tell her asap so she can put her mind to rest.

Lol...I agree to be upfront with her that you were never billed as she obviously still feels terrible for what accidentally happened.

I'm all for sarcastic messages, but only if I know the person. The cutting the cord thing may be a little to severe..I would say, " I really appreciate all your kind gestures, but if you're still doing this because of that little mishap with the Internet/ phone wire, it was no big deal and I did tell you that I never got charged for that service call.right? Or something like that....I live in a neighbor hood ( for 25 years) that have the best neighbors we all do(did) things like that all the time, with no ulterior motives..and you did say you live on a, "Leave it to Beaver" street so enjoy it while you can..I absolutely love my little neighborhood!!

Awwww. Such a nice brag. You have struck gold! So nice that you live on a Leave it to Beaver street.

Can I trade neigbours with you? I'll even throw in a giant envie with coupons if this sweetens the deal.
Is there a way to enclose/protect the cord so it is not accidentally cut?

What goes around comes around. I think this is really nice. Return the gesture and keep this kindness going between you. After all who doesn't like a home baked pie. I want to live in your neighborhood...I live in the "hood".lol

Love your story, Millie! Enjoy the blessing of being a part of a caring, giving neighbourhood! (Anyone who knows you is aware of the fact that you, personally, are very involved in donating generously to others.)
