Former Stone Temple Pilots Frontman Scott Weiland Dead at 48

Scott Weiland, the former frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died. He was 48. The singer's manager, Tom Vitorino, confirmed the death to The Associated Press Friday morning. Weiland was found dead in his tour bus last night.Vitorino did not provide further details but referenced a statement on Weiland's Facebook page.

Trudeau Government to Lay Out Agenda in First Speech From the Throne

The Trudeau government lays out its agenda for its 1st session of Parliament today with the speech from the throne. 1 of the key themes is expected to be reconciliation with Canada's Aboriginal Peoples. The throne speech will also touch on the Liberals' promise to raise taxes on Canada's biggest breadwinners, while easing the burden on middle-income earners.

Cleveland Indians vice-president of player personnel Ross Atkins will be the Toronto Blue Jays' new general manager. Team president Mark Shapiro and Atkins, who worked together in Clevelend, will hold a media availability today at 11am, Rogers Centre.

Hockey is hockey complete with all those great big bruisers,
There will always be winners & there will also be losers,
Some teams seem to be lacking the assemblance of clout,
Then there are some who can never win a simple shoot-out,
The days of big Bobby Clobber & when goons entertained with their antics,
Is there an applicable theory here or is it about semantics?
The home town team is lackluster & this story gets so repetitive,
What is it going to take for these guys to play hockey that is competitive?
Keep your sticks on the ice & please start paying attention,
Then I will write you a kudos poem, complete with honourable mention.
