Catching up with Cityline-there was a segment with red lentil waffles. Since lentils are a Canadian-grown source of protein, you will be feeling satisfied.

Friends that moved to the US, ask us to bring some Canadian lentils when we visit. We get them the red lentils.

I like the cheery lentils-true, they look like mushy yellow-orange coloured ones after cooking but it beats green for me.

Was copying some recipes (reading about food and places does that to me) and noticed a chicken dish with lentils (Sept. 2015)!

Hey, there's a chicken curry with red lentils too (Dec. 2014)!

There may be a pop-up window coming up when you try to click on a recipe link. Having that occur with a library computer but try to close the window and you can access the recipe.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Thanks. I recently made lentil and corn chili that was pretty good. Dh was not impressed that I was serving something without meat in it.

@Ciel , what do you know about green lentils vs red? There is a recipe we have chosen to have as our starter course and it suggests 1/2 c red lentils as one of the ingredients. I only have a bag of yellow/green and was going to use those. Is there a real difference between the flavours of them?

No, there's no flavour difference between the lentil colours as far as I know. Then again, I've only had the Canadian lentils. Who knows, there could be some flavour to note in an imported variety.
I just prefer to see red lentils (become orange mush) in my cooking pot. I'll have to give green lentils a turn next time I buy a package of lentils.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I saw on Doctor Oz one time that he used lentils in his bolognese sauce instead of meat. I havent tried it yet but i'm going to one day!

We use lentils all the time! Sooo good! Lentil tacos, we use them in spaghetti sauce instead of ground beef, lentil and black bean burgers. Yum They work in so many ways!
