Roman Klimov, soldier in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, was laid to rest on February 6, 2017 in Mykolayiv.

Roman Klimov was killed on February 2, 2017 during the shelling in Avdiyivka, Donetsk Oblast.
Senior soldier Roman Klimov (call sign “Shtyk” (Bayonet) was born on June 30, 1989 in Mykolayiv. He loved sports, especially jogging and competitive shooting. He worked as a manual turner at the Mykolayiv Engineering Plant, and then repairing armoured vehicles.
He was mobilized in June 2014, and signed a contract before the end of his service. First he worked as a sniper in the Third Battalion of the 72nd Brigade, and then in a BMP crew, where he served as a gunner. He took part in several major battles (Volnovakha), and as of October 2016 was deployed to Avdiyivka.
Roman leaves behind his mother and sister.

Soldier Anatoliy Zaremsky, born 06.03.1977, was killed during the shelling of Avdiyivka on February 3, 2017.

Anatoliy came from the village of Berezivka, Novo-Ushytsky Raion, Khmelnitsky Oblast. He served as Captain in the Third Battalion of the 80th Separate Assault Brigade.
Anatoliy lived in Chernivtsi, Western Ukraine, with his wife and two sons.

Roman Horkun (call sign “Smailyk” (Smiley), soldier in the 17th Separate Armoured Brigade was laid to rest late morning February 8, 2017 in Kryvy Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Roman was born in Luhansk on September 24, 1994. He was brought up by his grandmother, who raised him as a true patriot. When Russian troops invaded Eastern Ukraine in late 2014, Roman and his grandmother moved to Kryvy Rih. In 2015, he was mobilized , and in spring 2016 signed up for military service and went to the front to protect his native Luhansk region.
Roman served as a corpsman and gunner in the 1st Company of the 1st Mechanized Battalion, 17th Separate Armoured Brigade.
Roman was killed on February 3, 2017 during an enemy mortar attack near the villages of Novozvanivka and Troyitske, Popasna Raion, Luhansk Oblast.

President Petro Poroshenko awarded servicemen of the Armed Forces and officials of the State Emergency Service who had proved themselves defending Avdiivka.
The Head of State thanked warriors of the 72nd mechanized brigade for their courage and heroism demonstrated in the protection of Avdiivka from Russian terrorist troops and brave rescuers who have been doing everything possible to help local residents.


According to him, the 72nd mechanized brigade had proved its name of one of the most powerful brigades of the Land Forces of Ukraine called the “Black Brigade” by the enemies in 2014 due to its successful military operations in the area of hostilities.
“This means the enemy fears the “Black Brigade” and knows that it will not advance any further in the area of the 72nd brigade. For them you are the “Black brigade” and for us you are a bright and brave army,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
The President also awarded the officials of the State Emergency Service who had saved the town from the humanitarian disaster.
The attendees honored memory of the fallen warriors with a moment of silence.

37-year-old Andriy Belyavtsev, soldier in the 54th Brigade, was laid to rest on February 11, 2017 in the village of Voznesenska, Melitopol Raion, Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

Andriy was seriously wounded during combat on February 7. Unfortunately, the doctors couldn’t save him and he passed away in Bakhmut Military Hospital on February 8.
Andriy was born August 24, 1979 in the village of Voznesenka where he lived with his family. He was mobilized in April 2015.
Andriy leaves behind his wife and three children - two daughters and a son. The youngest girl is in 2nd grade.

23-year-old Vyacheslav Tsynkush was laid to rest in Zaporizhzhya on February 9, 2017.

Vyacheslav, IFV commander, passed away at Bakhmut Military Hospital, Donetsk Oblast on February 5. He was fatally wounded during a combat mission in the war zone.
