    We've decided not to invest in an $800 machine and biweekly bags to soften up the water. But...I really need to know which dish detergent (talking about for hand washing dishes) is the best to use. Ie so the bubbles don't disappear as soon as you put the dishes in

    Bubbles don't clean dishes.Just buy any old name brand dishwashing liquid.

    I use Dawn and Dawn only. I find the bubbles last the longest. But @Poirot is right.

    Try placing the pod in the bottom of the dishwasher, not the little compartment-it may not be releasing.
