Laser Printer: Why do you mock me????

I bought a laser jet printer mid Sept. After somewhat semi-regular usage it seems the toner has run out way way before it should have. I've printed approx 250 pages only. Supposedly I should have gotten about between 1000-1600 pages out of it.

The estimated print-pages (in your case 1000-1600 pages) are typically very misleading since printer manufacturers base it on using the 'light grey scale' setting....which when used makes the text so faint you can barely even read it.

This is not necessarily true @mulock ... I have a LaserJet Pro with a cartridge that says I should get around 1800-2000 pages. Below is my current status. Now I also use the HP Utility to turn on economode for some prints that do not need full darkness ... but I disagree that the text is so faint you cannot read it. @momof3heathens check the HP utility to see how many pages you actually have printed or print the status on the printer itself to get that information ... you may have printed more. Now also note that the toner that comes by default with a new printer is small and will not give you the number of prints you normally would get from a store bought replacement.

Anyway --- those are my 2-cents.

the print out says 257 pages.

I kind of figured it was the same as ink jet in that the initial toner in the printer is a smaller amount. so ugh.

Kind of misleading... any way to get the manufacturer's warranty on toner?
