22-year-old Serhiy Kovnatsky was killed near Shakhta Butivka, Donetsk Oblast on March 25, 2018.
Serhiy was born on August 27, 1995 in Yasenivka, Zhytomyr Oblast, but lived in Pulyny. In 2013, he graduated from the Pulyny Vocational School and in April 2016 enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 95th Air Assault Brigade.
Serhiy leaves behind his mother, brother and sister. Serhiy’s father is also serving on the front lines.

"Spring truce" continues... Russian mercenaries launch 47 attacks on Ukrainian positions in Donetsk, Luhansk and Mariupol sectors.
No casualties on the Ukrainian side.

Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug will be in eastern Ukraine from 26 to 31 March 2018. He will assess the security situation along the contact line and its impact on civilians, and engage with communities on the ground.

The Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine has agreed on the next ceasefire in the Donbas starting from 00:01 on March 30. This will be yet another "Easter ceasefire."
The previous ceasefire started on 5 March. Hostilities decreased as the ceasefire came into force, however, Ukrainian troops still continued to sustain almost daily casualties.
Recently, an escalation started and heavy guns came back into play.

The sustainable and unlimited ceasefire will be imposed in the conflict-hit region to enable its residents quietly celebrate Easter, which falls on April 8 this year, the OSCE said in a statement on its website.
The truce obliges the conflicting parties to cease hostilities, as well as to avoid forward movements of forces and reconnaissance missions, the statement said.

Serhiy was born on February 16, 1972 in Kryvy Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. He served as sergeant in the 2nd Battalion of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He was mobilized on April 1, 2014, serving with 3036 unit of the National Guard in Mariupol. He was released from the army on March 23, 2015, but enlisted again on March 28, 2016, serving in Popasna Raion, Donetsk Oblast.
Serhiy leaves behind his grieving mother, wife and 2 daughters.

OSCE SMM anounces that it will officially relaunch its drone surveillance program on March 28, near the government-controlled eastern Ukrainian city of Kostiantynivka. The drones will help “augment and complement its monitoring activities and to overcome impediments to monitoring in eastern Ukraine”

Bodies of 134 victims of Soviet terror in Ukraine given proper burial

On 24 March 2018, 134 bodies of victims of Soviet terror in the west-Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk were given a proper burial, Ukrinform reported.


The victims were killed during the Communist terror of 1939-1941. They were discovered in the summer of 2017, when, while laying cables along the street, engineers stumbled upon several human remains. Judging by certain features of the burial site, scholars tend to believe that the remains belong to victims executed by the NKVD (People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs – Soviet secret police organization from 1934 to 1946-Ed.). The bolsheviks used to bury their victims in ditches and hollows, without bothering to dig a deeper pit, which is why the remains were found so easily.

“Research on the spot continues, which is why the discovered graves are not the last ones. Our Christian duty is not only to preserve the memory of those events, but honor those who suffered from the Communist regime,” Ihor Kinash, head of the internal policy department of the Ivano-Frankivsk city council, said during the re-burial ceremony.

After a burial ceremony performed by local priests, the bodies were buried at Demyaniv Laz, a mass burial site of victims of Soviet killings committed in the wake of the Nazi takeover of Stanislaviv (modern Ivano-Frankivsk) in 1941. At least 524 local Polish and Ukrainian captives (including 150 women with dozens of children) were shot by the NKVD and buried in several mass graves dug by the prisoners themselves in a small gorge outside of the city.

19-year-old Andriy Kryvych, call sign “Dilly”, was killed by a sniper bullet near Svitlodarsk Bulge, Donetsk Oblast on March 27, 2018.
Andriy was born in Konotop, Sumy Oblast on January 24, 1999. He was a student at the Pedagogical Institute in Sumy and his dream was to become an army psychologist. He was a volunteer soldier fighting with Pravy Sektor Sapsan Group, National Guard of Ukraine.

A hero returns home…
Andriy Shcherbyna, call sign “Porthos”, was laid to rest in Haisyn, Vinnytsia Oblast on March 28, 2018.
Andriy disappeared during the Battle of Ilovaisk in August 2014, but his remains were identified only recently through DNA testing.

Andriy was born in the village of Dubovske, Luhansk Oblast, but moved with his family to his wife’s home region of Vinnytsia in 2006.
A retired officer, Andriy couldn’t sit at home when the war broke out in Eastern Ukraine. On June 3, 2014, he joined the Donbas Volunteer Battalion and served as senior intelligence officer. He left for the war zone on July 14, 2014 and fought at Popasna, Lisichansk, Kurakhovo, Maryanivka, and finally at Ilovaisk... he was declared MIA.
Andriy leaves behind his grieving wife and 2 young daughters.

Viktor Maksymov was killed by a landmine in Volnovakha Raion, Donetsk Oblast on March 30, 2018.
Viktor was born in Rayivka, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on May 9, 1984, but lived in Dnipro. He enlisted and went to the front in 2014, serving as a mechanic, driver and electrician in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Viktor leaves behind his grieving wife and little daughter.
