or when the kettle boiled dry while you tried to get 'just one more post' in, which became 2, then half a dozen, then 15 minutes passed; and then you wondered what that strange smell was in the house, and you go down to look around, and the burner is orange, and the kettle is boiled dry, and you grab a pot-holder and remove the kettle ever so gently, so it will lift off the burner without leaving something behind, and now there's no lid for the Corningware kettle, because it melted, and it takes twice as long to boil a kettle of water for your cuppa
