Looks like this tropical depression is dumping on us. Being stuck in traffic and watching the sheets of rain coming down inspired me to use the facilities as soon as I got in to work this morning. I know that is too much information, but oh well, I said it.

Decision expected today in Toronto council legal challenge

It’s decision day in Toronto -- a ruling on the city's legal challenge of the province's decision to cut the size of city council by nearly half is expected today. An Ontario superior court justice is expected to send his decision to legal counsel later this morning. The legislation, which passed last month, would reduce the size of council from 47 members down to 25 and would align the city's ward map with federal ridings just weeks before the October 22nd municipal election. Premier Doug Ford maintains the move would improve decision-making and save tax payers $25 million. Lawyers for the city of Toronto argued the move is discriminatory and violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Canada Post strike or lockout possible later this month

Canadians will find out as early as today whether they'll face a possible strike later this month by delivery agents and plant workers at Canada Post. Workers at the crown agency wrapped up voting yesterday on whether to give their union a strike mandate. If postal workers voted in favour of a mandate, there could be a strike or lockout at Canada post by September 26th. Oh what a surprise! Has there ever been a year where they haven't threatened or gone on strike.
