I think the discount depends on what each province allows for medical items to be discounted.
From the Shoppers website regarding Senior's Day -not likely as item could fall under provincially regulated or pharmacy-related transaction.
Seniors save 20% with a PC Optimum card on regular priced merchandise at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Offer valid June 13, 2019 only.
*Discounts apply to our regular prices on all almost all merchandise purchased by seniors and their accompanying family members with a valid PC Optimum points card after redemption and discounts. Discount excludes purchase of tobacco, lottery tickets, alcohol, gift cards, all prepaid card, transit/event tickets, post office transactions, prestige cosmetics, prestige fragrances, passport photos, cash back, delivery charges, all purchases made through non-participating 3rd party operations and any other products that may not legally be offered in connection with the Program, are provincially regulated (including pharmacy-related transactions) or as we determine from time to time. Update: I bought $44 in syringes tonight along with another product to get over $50 and I got the 20x the bonus points. So whether this works or not on Senior's days, it definitely works for their points program. I'm in Ontario, FWIW. You don't need a prescription for this. Also, if you have a diabetic cat and use syringes that are for people, this a great deal. I ended up spending a bit over $50 and got over 16,000 in points.

My mom used to buy needles on 20x the points days for my dad. Not sure if she tried the seniors discount.
