Besides, it's getting too dark for me to see well enough, & I'd have to get all the different socket wrenches, pliers & screw drivers out again.

If there is a spark then the plug etc should be okay, the plug may have gotten wet from the little amount of gas (flooding), there just might not be enough gas to ignite the engine. If electric start then there could be an issue with the battery, electric cord or ignition system. The snowblower should have a pull start cord. Don't know if they tried pull starting.

Apparently they did try manual start, but it didn't work.
I have an electiic start lawn mower and had a lot of problems getting it started last spring until I removed the connection for the electric start and started it manually.
I have to admit it took a while to get it started however.
When it finally started, I never had another problem with it all summer

Carb problem? have you taken apart the the casing around the carb, it could have attracted small rodents to build a nest...happen to me in one of my cars..where the mice build a nest around the carb (they like gas).

Holy cra*p, I mean holy cow, I don't even know what a carb looks like.
I guess I could take the whole thing apart & look for a nest, but not tonight.
And, if it gets any more complicated, screw it !!

No, its not that difficult..you don't have to take the carb apart just look around it, most likely all you'd have to do is remove a metal casing covering the carb.

It may not be rodents but something as simple as spiders webs especially if it has been sitting unused for a while.

One last post on this blower issue today.
Have you checked the oil level?
Is it up to it's proper level?
Is the oil fresh? or just a carryover from who knows when?
You might want to drain the existing oil and put in fresh oil.
Please don't read this and do it today. You have had enough frustration for one day.
Do what I told you to do in my prior post.
Put your feet up, sit in front of a warm fireplace, have some wine and just RELAX!
I just know you will feel much better in the morning in a brand new year.

You all know the rule of thumb about considering another's feelings,
We also know to be practical when it comes to life & its' dealings,
You may be an animal lover or maybe you're an amazing cook,
Perhaps you danced your way through the seventies & read a self help book,
Remember the 1980's & did you have one of those shocking perms?
Wasn't there a sappy movie about endearment & its terms?
What did you do in the 90's & did you have Windows 95?
Did you ever think the world could be right there on your hard drive?
Remember all the hoopla about the pending millennium crash?
& are we in the midst of a pace that goes so fast that you almost have a rash?
Now we turn our calendars to the year twenty-thirteen,
& gone our the days when we would calculate on a Burrough's adding machine,

Right now we just need to step back and analyze all the data that we have been able to collect and decide on the proper course of action.
