nice to see Romeo that it is ok for you to bring up the past but not for me, quite hypocritical of you, but then again you are a leaf fan!!! I have never mentioned once that the Habs will win the cup, all I have stated is that the one guarantee is that the Leafs will go another season without it! But clearly you need to put on your bifocals as you have misunderstood what I was talking about. At least the Habs will give it a good run to make the playoffs and if they do, will give it a good run during it. Last season when I went to the last regular season game in Toronto, and they played against the Habs. While the Habs were blowing the Leafs out at ACC, all the moronic Leaf fans were saying(because Leaf fans are soooo intelligent when it comes to Hockey) that Boston was going to kill them 4 games to none. They all kept saying how Habs would not even win one game. To my recollection we took the team that eventually won the cup to 7 games and it was a squeaker for the Bruins. I can always say what if, but then I would be going down to the level of a Leaf fan. There is no what ifs, whether you are playing with a back up goalie or whether Gionta hit on Reimer was clean or dirty(btw, Don Cherry himself said, that hit was clean and he only deserved a 2 min. penalty as he is not a dirty player). What if the Leafs won last night, you would be in first in your division, etc., etc., etc. Now can we all get back to delivering the codes!

As for afordablitity, Habs out bid the Leafs for Cammillerri and Habs drafted Subban, so you make no sense on that side, but then again I forgive you, as you are a Leaf fan! LOL, Romeo, all you do is say ditto, not much intelligence in that, but then again, you don't like people talking about the past and as of yesterday, that was the past. Going forward, November is historically when the Leafs swoon begins, lets see if they make it or break it! This is my last post on this subject. The answers to all your questions will be in April. Lets see who is right then!

Hey calm down your acting like one of those Hab (funny name) fans that give Hab fans their bad reputation. First coaching is not a management position, second all you do is talk about the past yourself, third you just agreed with me Montreal outbid the Leafs and why would the Leafs want Subban? Fourth the Teachers Union hold majority shares and control the purse strings. Hey this is better than listening to 590 and hey keep posting those winning words.

I do not hate the Habs (hee, hee). Just their fanatical fans bad mouthing other teams especially when one of their players deliberatly injures another especially a key player.

Btw, you ask why would anyone want Subban? The question should have been why would anyone want Komisarek? There was a reason Montreal did not resign him and then overpay for him as the Leafs did! Last time I remember Subban is a second year player but still can be an impact player on any given night same can't be said for Komisarek! But Burkie is a smart American GM!

When it comes down to fanatical fans, I think Leaf fans top all teams. They stand by and buy tickets for their club(win or lose) and then scream wait till next year! This morbid fixation to losing year in and year out has not made you guys any more mellow, rather it angers you enough that you figure it is better to dish out $400 a ticket to see your team lose, and lose and lose! Great news to you guys today, that they have been winning, but my point is simple in Montreal when the team loses consistently, fans stop going to games, and revenue drops! In Toronto, more fans come and spend more and revenues go up! Where is the logic? Do you think Teachers Pension cares when people are still coming to the games? It is when they stop that changes happen! In this town, it will be a continuous cycle and everyone can blame Teachers, Tannenbam, MLSE and whomever else they want, but the fans, who continuously spend money to support losers year in and year out are really the ones to blame!

Leaf fans hate Montreal fans, because Montreal fans can be proud of their team. Toronto has fans young and old who look at their legacy and wonder why they have not won a cup since 1967, many of their fans weren't even around in 67. Some call that jealousy. Leaf fans call that our bad reputation, but than what would be a great rivalry without bad reputation and hatred for each others teams! I am glad we are keeping this civil, but understand , like you guys hate the Habs, I equally hate the Leafs.

FFightr, the only reason I keep poking fun at Romeo when it comes to history, is because that was his whole argument with me. He kept saying I talk about only history, and yes that is true, but he only wants to talk about today, and then he brings up history in his comments today, that is what I found so hypocritical.

I apologize to both ffightr and Romeo if I have taken this to a level to attack you guys, and that was not meant. Rather this is a good rivalry, hockey wise that always gets everyones blood boiling! Good luck to your team this year, and lets hope that the first step of just making the playoffs is acheived!

The rivalry between Montreal and Toronto dates back to the original 6 NHL teams. The two teams were the only Canadian cities to have a franchise and the "hatred" stemmed from trying to be the predominate Cdn team. In 1967, which was the last year that the Leafs won the cup they beat the favoured Montreal Canadiens...Toronto was stacked with old, I mean, veteran players.
Sam Pollock built the Canadiens to the powerhouse that they were for many years, so shrewd that he managed to draft 2 of the top 3 linemates from the Toronto Marlboros one year (Steve Shutt and Dave Gardner) I believe the third member of the line Billy Harris went to the Islanders.

As for attendance to the Leaf games. It is virtually impossible to boycott the Leafs and the consortium knows this. There is a waiting list years long for season's tickets not like Montreal or even other cities in the NHL where you can pick up tickets almost before the game started. This dates back to Pal Hal days....you could see the empty red seats at Maple Leaf Gardens, but Pal Hal didn't care cause the seats were paid for.

As an example, a couple of years ago one of my daughters was down in Tampa Bay presenting at a seminar sponsored by the university she was attending. Hours before a game between Tampa Bay and Florida they got 4 tickets a few rows behind the Lightning bench for $ 100.00 US, 4 tickets for 100 bucks, WOW. The price of the pair of tickets that I won back in 2009 was $ 217.00 each.

I for one, even though a somewhat Leaf fan, would not dish out $ 217.00 for a pair of tickets let alone one. That is why I try and win tickets.

Because many players have family members in the GTA there is always a mixture of jerseys. I used to cheer for a tie when my cousin used to come into town back when there was only 12 teams in the league.

This is a great banter...but don't let it get out of hand..

I personally don't care for Ron Wilson or Brian Burke and am hoping that Wilson will be fired....I prefer more flamboyant coaches, some that show energy, animation, excitement, this type of coach would help in rallying a team....the likes of the late Pat Burns...
