A very kind gesture on you part. I am sure the women will greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness. To many of use a simple bottle of body wash might not mean much but in a case like this that little bottle might make a hugh difference in helping someone along.
It hadn't crossed my mind to make use of coupons in this way...I am going to start hanging on to those coupons for products I personally don't use but that someone else could make use of.

Before a friend of mine ended up in a woman's shelter (she ran away, with her baby daughter, from an abusive relationship. Abusive physically and mentally!), shelter is a place I donated money to. A credit card transaction at year end - simple and impersonal!

Since visiting my friend at her place (and reading on all the fantastic donations made by fellow SCers at around Xmas), I vowed to be more involved, hence the birth of a big box in my closet affectionately called my "shelter stash". Personal toiletries is currently my target. Many of these women had very little money on them; what they receive by way of social assistance go towards their children's - their own needs come last. A nice smelling shampoo, body wash/ soaps, body cream, toothpaste, deodorant, pads do make a difference.

So I urge many of you who has a closetful of Olay body washes (enough to wash a herd of elephants ), keep what you think you will use and donate the rest. It made me chuckle reading a post last week about needing another body wash like needing a hole in the head but still feel compelled to buy them at Metro . Cases like those are perfect reasons for donations!!!

    'Nuff said. Nite...nite...!

You truly inspire us. I am now collecting body products for shelters and also kitty food as we seem to get alot of free coupons for those - will give that lot to the SPCA. It is funny how sometimes the people who know how to get the best deal can also at the same time be generous.
