Home knit items?

My mom makes beautiful knit items, sweaters, dresses, shrugs, booties, hats, scarves, blanket etc. She makes adult, child and baby sizes. I'm just wondering what kind of interest there are in these items and if people would actually buy them? Right now she makes alot for my dd, some friends, stuff for herself and charity. But she has alot of extra that I think she should try and sell. What do you think? Should she try and sell them would you purchase them?

I see stuff like this all the time at craft sales.....I personally like the socks mitts hats and scarves and would consider doll clothes at the right price....

These are totally in demand where I'm from! I know I buy mittens, scarves, baby clothes (especially infant sets like a light sweater and cap), baby blankets, and afghans - for gifts, as well as myself!
I buy them at craft sales - which are usually in the fall, closer to Christmas. Also the baby stuff is for sale at one of the hospitals in the city.
In my city, these sell well - at any sales I've been at - church sponsored, service clubs, - also at Christmas sales that schools have, where anyone can rent a table to sell things (usually $20-25). I'm a crafter too, and have had things at sales in the past, and I know how quickly the knitted stuff sells at other tables!
On a larger scale, maybe consider Etsy.
One really hot item last year was those knitted hats with the front earflaps that all the teens were getting - like this style

- and the watchman/beanie hats - and of course, all kinds of hats and scarves for kids and adults, too. I know I still love getting a matching set! I usually buy the earband things, too.
Also those scarves where you pull the end through, and especially long skinny scarves - all seem to sell well. And there are always people who just want classic knitted slippers!
Wish her luck for me! I know it's tough for crafters - you never get your money back regarding time and effort!

Some gift stores also sell crafts on consignment. The ones I deal with charge from 25 to 30% of the selling price.

If I were her,I would get a table or booth at a Christmas craft bazaar, most times they are only 10-15 a day per table, and she can sell them there...people are always looking for homemade items, especially knitting, and I know personally I buy my neices a new knitted sweater and mittens every year for Christmas from the craft fair.
I still have all of the knitting my grandmother did for my children, and some are 16 years old, and because I washed these by hand and hung to dry, they look as new as the day my Nana made them.
I would encourage her to sell them.Someone who doesn't knit wil always appreciate someone who does!

She should definitely try and sell them. There's always a demand for clothes and especially with the winter season coming up the warmth of knitted items would be in even more demand. I personally love the hats and find them hard to pass up.

Oh, she should definitely try to get a table at a fall/xmas fair. The other thing she might want to look into is making doggy sweaters. Maybe it's just cause I'm in Toronto, but a knitted dog sweater can easily set you back $50! & that's for a small dog.

I got a pink angora dog sweater from a contest last yr, whose retail value was - get this - $195! There's a pic of it on my profile page - it's actually the cat's sweater, since it wouldn't even fit on the dog's nose.
