We're doing the charcoal old fashioned coals BBQ tonight. ( hope there is no rain coming!!)
Sharing a large T-bone. ( I call the tender part on the side!! ) DH likes his well done, me medium well so it is a delicate operation of removing my part early at some point. Making DD and DS skewers with chicken breast chunks, fresh pineapple and green peppers. Their sides are boiled red skin potatoes and Bush's beans, DH and I are having a green salad.
Chicken teriyaki, pan fried mixed veggie and garlic naan
^ I have a propane bbq but I think the charcoal bbq always taste better--especially pork chops!
It's cool here today for a change, so baking pork chops in the oven with onions & cream of mushroom soup and with it fluffy mashed potatoes and green peas.
^ agreed that charcoal is better, and wood is even better than that!
I hurt my knee last night, plus it's hot, husband got paid, son is coming over, so FOUR reasons why we are ordering Chinese food in tonight. Oooooh, can't wait! :)
Tonight was BBQ Wings for Mom and BBQ Chicken Breast for me with a side of wedges. There was supposed to be a salad to go with it yeah it did not happen, opps.
well the rain came so the steaks were done inside on my oblong grill, the skewers of chicken breast/pineapple and veg were placed on the George Foreman grill. Two steaks, so plenty of meat to go around!! Caramelized a huge pan of onions/shrooms, then added 1 can Franco American beef gravy to it to have as a drizzle over the steaks. ( no one here cares for any steak sauce stuff ) Switched up the sides though, roasted a whole cauliflower ( cut into thick slices, seasoned ) and had with boiled red skin potatoes.
Apricot-Orange preserves with vanilla and cardamom over French vanilla ice cream :P
Going to make some poutine and breaded fish.
whole BBQ chicken, salad, and mini potatoes.
Making pasta dinner and mixed fruit salad
Leftover Chinese food tonight.
Just me for dinner tonight so going to keep it super simple we have some left over potatoes I will fry up with a salad and maybe just maybe if I get the energy a sausage on the side but more than likely I will call it a veggie night and only have the potatoes and salad.
I am on a mission to clean out the freezer/cupboards. So will see what I dig out tonight and what the kids feel like. Have ground beef that I will cook up for tacos/nachos I think. They both like that so will make a salad to go with and slice up cucumbers as a side too. Healthy enough!
Last night we made a whole chicken and veggie stir-fry. Used up a jar of cherry sauce in the cupboard. We prefer sweet n sour so now we know not to buy the cherry for stirfry.
^I'm on a mission to use up the old as well--which is why we're having mushroom and red pepper lentil soup. I can't eat button mushrooms fresh unless they are in pristine condition: white and hard--and these ones are going to the darker side--so in the soup pot they go!
My kids are SO unimpressed. They would love ANY of the above options more than what they are getting tonight...like Nat's leftover Chinese or TooCouponCrazy's fish and poutine.
Heck...I think I'd rather have any of those two myself as well! But...waste not, want not. I'll just have to make a point of buying Chinese real soon so I can enjoy it once and then it enjoy it the second time as leftovers! :)
the day started out right on track.....till about 3:30 actually. However, now I am in that " what's in the fridge that I can eat " frame of mind...which is NOT a good mood to be in. I am sitting here until it passes.
Not certain just yet. I carefully took a few red potatoes from the plants in my garden, picked some yellow string beans too. Will have a salad with it, bagged one from the store that I'll add my yellow pear tomatoes to. I have butcher's sausage thawed in the fridge, or else home made hamburgers from lean ground beef that I am buying at Sobeys today.
Just a reminder: it is 10% off all grocery purchases of $35 or more at Sobeys today. Since the points program is ending on September 11th, I plan on using points today.
Angela, I was surprized that at Sobey's it's gone up to $50 for the 10% - and I didn't have enough for that, so we'll shop another day.
and ninna - oh, the leftovers were so very good! It had been a long time since we had Chinese food, since our finances were nasty the first half of this year.
All the containers given were full to overflowing - and even with our son taking enough for two big meals after last night's supper, we still have some left for me to have lunch tomorrow.
today was ribs on the BBQ and they were so good...sticky & sweet...and had my beloved caesar salad with it....and then for dessert went to my nan's for tea and had butter finger torte , it was delicious!!
Yummy^^:)
Going to order a pizza tonight. The kids will be happy. :)
Leftover pasta and maybe some salad greens....and of course my very own blueberry pie for dessert.
Hotdogs and homemade soup tonight - barley, veggies - potatoes, carrots, onions, cauliflower, and some noodles.
