For Shopping advice:
Don't buy something you don't ACTUALLY NEED just because it's cheap. Because then it's just a waste of money.Last edited by itsjustmebub; Tue, Jun 2nd, 2009 at 04:23 PM.

The only shopping advice I really remember getting is that a device that does 10 things badly is worse than a device that does 1 thing really well.
I have found this true, especially the last few years where people want their phones to do everything. I'd rather have a nice phone, a nice mp3 player, and a nice camera than a really expensive phone that only holds 10 songs and takes ruddy photos.
Life in General:
"Live Carefully."
It's an Inupiaq / Inuit proverb I first heard of when I was taking a Northern Studies class. It's so succinct but so complex. It's affected me deeply since I learnt of it a few years ago, because it sort of sums up the way I've been trying to live my life for a long long time.
Annnd, probably not the same thing, but there is a song (here) whose chorus is "What will happen will happen whether I'm happy or sad. There are days to wake up for, there are dreams to be had, what will happen will happen whether I'm happy or sad."
Which is a very good approach, if you ask me. :3Last edited by Jacq; Tue, Jun 2nd, 2009 at 05:10 PM.

I heard this on Oprah many, many years ago and I SWEAR by it. It works for everything pretty much.
"Never accept a "NO" from someone who is not in a position to give you a "YES".

From a Ben Harper Song, not really advice but it has stuck with me;
"Make sure the fortune, that you seek
Is the fortune you need."

Never date a man prettier than me.
My father told me that when I started dating.
