I am always careful to watch the register as items are rung up. I used to work at a grocery store and know full well the rules of SCOP. Thanks so much for the link missbobloblaw!

wow...I'm really ashamed of that Wal Mart now....I promise not all store are that bad. It could have been a new person at Courtesy because yes, unfortunately some cashiers dont know about SCOP, and if shes new, the training sucks lol believe me. I wasnt even trained I was thrown on a courtesy register and was told to hope for the best basically. it was Christmas and I was on overnights, we didnt have any other choice. I have heard about how bad some of the GTA WM's are, and she obviously was in a T.O one by looking at the receipt. I wonder if it was a Duty Manager or CSM that told the courtesy assoc. to do the SCOP..hmm..wish they would've shown video..
I work at Food Basics and we follow the practice, although only with scanned items. If it's a produce item that we key in then we don't. Not sure why though. But I have found when I'm out shopping that most place you have to tell them about the practice and then you get the item free. Most places don't volunteer that information!!??
Thanks for the info....never did a SCOP...but when price scanned incorrectly I always corrected them & they adjusted price...BUT Now I know what to do...TY! SCer's for the tips/info! :)
Thank you.
thanks
Just remember that it's voluntary (except in PQ) and always carry around a copy of
SCOP in your purse and a list of stores. Not EVERY store partakes (Example: Zellers) in it. Alot of times they will offer to correct the price, but not offer SCOP. Choose wisely 'cause as pointed out....some stores offer SCOP AFTER the item has been rung in and paid for and for others at the time of check out
before i joined this forum i didn't know about scop, using coupons, wisely, and deals. thanks.
yup this one was open 24 hours!
I used to work there years ago and I had people try to do that. I dont have a flyer here but, it used to be written in the fine print in the seam/fold of the flyer that there are no sales in effect between 12-4AM for 24hours stores. Obviously its physically impossible for them to change all the signage between 11:59 and 12:00. he shouldn't have been putting the signs up so early.
I purchased something at Best Buy and it scanned incorrectly. I mentioned the SCOP. They checked the shelf price and agreed it was wrong. With no hassle, they gave me the $10.00 off the purchase price. I was pleased they didn't make a big deal out of it. The store handled it professionally and displayed excellent customer service.
I had to call Sobey's Customer Care today to ask about their coupon policy...the rep hadn't even heard of SCOP! :(
I was advised that they won't combine an instore promo and coupon in certain circumstances like :
Buy 3 Hamburger Helper Get 1 Green Giant Veggies FREE (instore/flyer promo this week-no coupon to use, auto discount applied @ till)
and
Coupon for Buy 3 Hamburger Helper Get 1 Green Giant Veggies FREE
(essentially 2 bags veggies for only 3 boxes of H Helper)
I mentioned RCSS does it with their instore coupon and my manf coupon all of the time...and that it wasn't like I was using 2 coupons @ Sobey's for one purchase...she skated around my reasoning and was still told no! RCSS....here I come!
