SCORE - part 2

I went back to no frills to buy more body wash and use up my coupons.
I took 15 products from the first score and took them to a shelter I used many years ago. I asked that the women be given the body wash tonight and told someone in the community was thinking of them. The staff was wonderful and said she was going to distribute as soon as I left. Made me feel great to give back to a place that helped me along my journey and to brighten up the day for women who are in a spot where I have once been.

So, I took in my 4 or 5 (can't remember) $10 olay and one $2 olay.
I spoke with the manager and asked if I could just take the coupon value off my purchase since the products were remarkably cheap (regular body wash $2.88 - botanicals $1.24) they just rang as much product is as they could for the coupons and I paid $1.38 at the end. I told the young women at the cash that I took my previous lot to a shelter and gave the name and that this time I was taking them to a different shelter, that I also had to spend much time in over a 2 yr period. I said it feels great to give back.

so....21 body washes for $1.38
and hopefully some cared for women tomorrow

That's fabulous, your heart is definitely in the right place.

I am fortunate enough to have never needed the services of a womens shelter. But I did bring my husband and son to a shelter several weeks ago to drop off all the Olay goodies that were extra, some diapers that we didn't need, cheap Stayfree pads, etc.

It was so sad to see the number of locks that had to be opened to let us in. I kept thinking how I couldn't imagine the desperation of having to run away from a bad situation with my child to a shelter, and not even having enough to buy a box of tampons for myself or diapers for my son, much less nice bodywashes and soaps that are ultimately just treats for just me.

While we all struggle from time to time, there's nearly always someone struggling more than we are. A bit of nice-smelling stuff can make a big difference in someone's day.
