it's rod blagojevich's birthday today,

1956 – Rod Blagojevich, 40th Governor of Illinois On December 7, 2011, Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison (168 months plus two other concurrent sentences; under federal sentencing guidelines, he must serve at least 85% of his 14-year sentence (11.9 years) before he would be eligible for supervised release, the federal version of parole). He must report to prison by February 16, 2012.

4 of the last 9 governors of illinois have gone away for similiar crimes and the last 2 are still in prison.

The Animal Haven Shelter in Shabramant, Egypt is there “for all those who can’t speak.” (Meowing is not the same as speaking, apparently.) They were founded in 2004, and since then they have worked to take in sick and injured strays, spay and neuter as many animals as possible, ensure the rights of animals, educate people in the treatment and understanding of animals, and to arrange countless adoptions for animals in need of a new forever home.
Their mission statement, according to their website:

Established on the principles of the Ethical Treatment of all creatures big and small; we strive to create awareness of the deplorable treatment of animals here in Egypt, as well as provide care and shelter for those animals who need it most.
