Wow, that is interesting, but understandable. Charities these days have to really 'compete', which is too bad - thus, so much more spent on fundraising...

You can also specify if there is a specific area you would like to donate to.

In Nancy's memory, I will be donating to the Canadian Cancer Society's transportation division. They have volunteer drivers that pick you up at your door & take you and most often a car full of other cancer patients to your appointments.

I can tell you that it was so nice to get into a warm car on a cold winter's morning & not have to worry about getting into downtown Toronto & parking. Also over the years I have met some incredible & inspirational people.

I am so grateful to the volunteers (mostly seniors too) who are so kind & accomodating to us cancer-smancer people.

I am not sure if this service is offered in every area, but it is in the GTA.
