Just found out that my great aunt passed away this afternoon. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer two weeks ago, pretty much out of the blue. I had lunch with her in June and she seemed perfectly fine. I took my boys to the hospital to see her a few times over the last two weeks, and we were supposed to go after Gabe's speech therapy yesterday but found out that she was in isolation, and I thought it would be too much to gown up the boys. And then today we were at the hospial for immunizations and Gabe asked if we could go see our Old Aunty (as he called her), and I said no, that we didn't have time today. What do I tell him in the morning?

Gosh I'm so sorry. At least they got to see her a few times before she passed. I guess it depends on how old the boys are but this will probably be one of those times where all your parenting storytelling skills will be required. If you believe in a certain faith then I guess you could take from that and build on it.
