You can just go into the regular store and get what you need. Then go through the drive through and say you forgot something.
If you have kids, that works great. You can say how your son or daughter was just whining about getting _____________

only thing is that if you are a secret shopper with Gapbusters, you can only do the secret shop alone, not with any friends or family..

You can pretend you're on the cell phone and "take an order" from a family member at home while you're going thru the drive thru.

...people must think I am a secret shopper often then. Never gave any thought to going thru drive thru, then inside to get something else... and vise versa.

Don't know much about this, but really... I'd do drive thru first, then go inside. And just pretend you really did forget something!

I doubt the staff at mcdonalds would even recognize you anyway, they serve a lot of people, they can't even make a hamburger right half the time.

I have done those shops before involving drive thru and dine in and have never had a problem with being spotted... I always do the dine in first and then just go through the drive in after... At the ones I have done it is different staff working the drive thru window then at the dine in til so there is not really a worry of being outted...

I got a e-mail from Gapbusters today asking me questions about a MCds I did on Sat. They wanted to know the times again from both dinein and drivethru and they said the Mcds thinks they recognized me a mystery shopper. They wanted a description of me and what car I was driving. Man makes me feel like a criminal or something. I ate the drivethru on the patio. They might not pay me for it also. The kicker is I took this assignment as a favor when they called me.

I have had this same thing happen to me recently. I found it creepy that they wanted a description of me. Yeah, it can be pretty obvious, even when you are discreet (which I was.) I think it's obvious because if they forget your receipt, you have to ask for one, which I think is an odd request for someone paying cash. I am finding all the post questions (aka, accusations) to be too much of a hassle for a $10 shop.

Nice to hear that I'm not the only one. Yeah that happened also in the drivethru where they didn't give me the receipt in the bag. I had to go back embarrased asking for it. The shop was insisting that I was not alone. Yeah this is looking like abit of a hassle for me. Like getting the free food but its also very fattening and I need to lose some weight. Also imagine that the crew and managers all are paranoid looking to out the mystery shoppers. Like really get a life!

I actually found out......I have been identified twice, so they asked for my description. It's because the store manager goes through the security tapes to pick out the shopper....they really do! Never look at cameras and avoid them if possible. In drive thru I always turn the visors down to block all the cameras, and park so far away that there is no way they see my car. I have asked GapBuster to explain how I was identified and one time while speaking to them on the phone the guy told me the managers sometimes go through the security tapes.

I would mention more but GapBuster likely reads these posts too and maybe even McDonalds staff.
