I did a cooking class awhile ago at Superstore, tried Basmati rice for the first time as a pilaf with grated green apple and grated sweet potato, cooked with chicken broth - odd combo, but it was delicious!

The Basmati was great, I've made it a couple times since then, but with water or broth, no pilaf since I didn't have the ingredients handy. All this time I thought my three year old didn't like rice, turns out he didn't like BROWN rice.

I also tried Jasmine rice since then, wasn't nearly as impressed.

I tried moose meat yesterday, I must say it was good but gamey. But I never say no to new food.

We bought some interesting food at the oriental market: tamarind and rambutan, had to go online to see how to eat it

    Love Basmati rice.

I had an asian pear for the first time yesterday. Good and very juice. I was a dribbling everywhere. LOL

Tried dragon fruit at little while ago, sweet, the DD loved it.

My food tastes run the gamut from Meditteranean (Italy, Greece, Southern France) to Middle Eastern to Mexican. I like some Chinese food, and some Japanese food, but lately I have been trying a fair amount of Thai foods that have been really good! With seasonings like lemongrass and chilies.

I do tend to be picky and lean towards foods I grew up eating but I am trying to expand my culinary horizons.

I agree basmati rice is the best - we have it a few times a week. I agree with the moose meat - it can be gamey but I know some people who cook it and you cannot tell its moose meat, it tastes like roast beef.

New foods I've tried lately? I tried some tabbouleh salad and hummus with my chicken shish kebab and rice and it was very tasty. DH has these often but I've never tried them before, but they are very nice side dishes.

After months and months of trying to get me to try this Indian
Restaurant in London, my daughter finally convinced me to go.

OMG it was absolutely wonderful and I can't wait to go back for
more specially the tandoori chicken and some kind of potato dish.

I had Korean Barbeque for the first time a few weeks ago and it was AWESOME. There is a cold egg-based appetizer that's very yummy.

A while back I bought some steamable treats at T&T (a huge Asian supermarket). One of the things I bought was labeled "Bamboo fungus vegetable roll". A the time I thought that meant "Bamboo, mushroom, and vegetable roll" but...

    "Long net stinkhorn"?!?!

It's still in my freezer... I'm afraid to try it still. :S
