  1. Thanks! My friend promised to eat the whole thing before everyone else gets there if it's not up to par. Gotta love friends like that.
  2. I do not even tell mine. This is different becuase we put ourselves out there. You gave me your phone number without hesitation... and that means a great deal to me. H team said she was picking you up. Mechman and I are meeting at the keg for dinner. You are welcome to join us. He will post it next week.
Have yourself a good night! And I am looking forward to meeting you in the flesh...
  3. Yippee! We finally get to meet in person.

My Mom's still trying to come to terms with my meeting people on the internet.
  4. Of course it's always when you're on the phone. Lily dog grabs a squeaky toy when I pick up the phone, makes it squeal as loudly as possible, then stays just out of reach. Ah, such entertainment.
  5. Maybe they were a comedy tag team once upon a time.... My two do not go out and have been driving me crazy.... Sammie is talking more than ever.......of course even more so when I am on the phone for work. Kids these days....
  6. Ha ha, I was just telling someone that Lily dog has spring fever. The little brat got in trouble today - she decided to dig up some grass cause the roots must be more yummy than the dry brown part showing.

Meanwhile, Quincy cat is being a brat & constantly trying to beat up the poor dog. It was funny, he tried to smack me, then realized that it was me, & slowly pulled his paw back just as he was about to hit. Good thing one of them at least pretends that I'm in charge.
  7. I wouldn't worry about the format. Just write. it will come to when you are done writing... I have friends who try to encourage me to write a book about the unusua things that have happened to me during my life.... fortunately they have been good...
I just didh't think what has happened to me anyone would wanj to read...
  8. Funny you should say that. I've been working on something for some time, but I keep changing my mind about the format. I go back and forth between writing for adults (Chicken Soup type book) or rhyming kids book or a picture book with stories. I`m going to have to just sit down, pick a type, & finish.

That`s the problem with a bigger project - something always seems to come up to distract me. I will work, I will work, I will...ooh, pretty shiny thing!
  9. That is too funny....Have you ever thought about writing a book on the humour you find with your kids? Not a long one... however It would be fantastic@!
  10. All's well here. I spent the evening killing myself laughing cause my friend's Lab kept trying desperately to kiss Quincy, who wanted no part of her. This Lab is obsessed with licking everyone & everything in sight & Quincy is just not that type of boy.

He's now diligently licking every last bit of doggie spit off his fur (she never did get close enough to kiss him, however loud her crying got).
  11. Really? You are magical... the way you are with the little ones and with adults too, however i am not fond og dog biscuits.... You had asked about my daughter and I am sorry I didn't answer you sooner. Thankfully her cold is just about gone.. only the cough and some congestion remain. I know her immune systme was compromised , however we had no choice . Hopefully this will, not occure too often.... How are you feeling?
  12. lol

Quincy's the only cat that ventures out & he likes dog biscuits.

It's funny, the neighbour dogs now drag their owners to the little table where I leave the biscuits, just in case it's a holiday.
  13. D lived abroad for many yrs, so there's a guilt factor going on. It would be far worse to have her living in a care home - far more stress than taking care of her at home (just the way D is).

These are the times I miss having a car (I could zip over there in less than a half hr, 1.5hrs by transit & a bit too much for my folks to play chauffeur). Going out there next week to see if I can help a bit.

How are Lucky & Sammie? Quincy's being rather obnoxious today. Might have to get out the feather toy & torment the boy.
  14. I know whre she is at.... Is there no respite or facilty where her mom can be placed? It is easy to make that decision....but it will save her life. Tell her that if she gets sick, who will look after her mom? I went through this with my dad.. and my mother was the caregiver..... very very difficult...Why hasn't she placed her mom.....
Being a martyr does no one any good.
  15. Someone comes in twice a week to help out, but it's more the emotional drain (D's Mom is 92 & dealing with Alzheimers - this has been D's life for 7yrs & it's taking its toll). I wish I could get out there to help more often, all I can do is get on the phone & let D vent.
  16. Thank you Andi. I am happy your friend is out of the hospital.....
As for your other friend there are agencies to help out in this situation....
She has to go through a social worker and am not sure what the angecy is called....
    I know it is available
  17. My friend is well (still on a mostly liquid diet, but very happy to be out of hosp).

Another friend of mine is struggling with burn out (gave up a good career to stay home & take care of an elderly parent). I've been trying to help, but there's not a lot I can do.

Sorry to hear your daughter is under the weather. Here's hoping she gets over this cold quickly.
  18. I was thinking about you earlier and you must have known...Thansk for the rep too!
Believe it or not.... my daughter is home sick with a horrible cold.... the worst she has ever had....Other than that all is well..... I may have a couple of pics of LUcky to post ... Will see later... Hope you and your kids are well....

    How is your friend?
  19. Thank you for the wonder rep.... it touch me...
  20. You are too funny.... and I have never known a CD to get stuck...I am glad your annual testesting went well. So why are your kids on strike? I will send Lucky right over.... as he has been a pill here lately...
  21. Good to hear all is well with you.

Nothing bad going on here, it's just that Jan is always a crazy busy month for me (annual testing at the hosp among other things). I just had my 8th anniversary of the transplant on the 18th (technically the 19th too, since the operation started at 7pm but didn't finish til 5:30am ish). Poor docs had 10.5 hrs of Norah Jones, cause the CD got stuck. lol

Still trying to catch up on all the things that didn't get done over Xmas & the critters are on strike.
  22. My nose also gets really cold when I am outside..... and the cats love my office. I have only 2 blankets for them and 1 little box for Sammie.... They know where they can go... Take care of yourself and your kids...
  23. All 3 of us are miserable with the cold weather (Quincy won't go near the window & Lily has no interest in playing in the snow). I had to run a quick errand today & waited 15 minutes for a bus - it wasn't too bad, I had lots of layers on, so the only part of me that was cold was the tip of my nose. lol

How are the cats liking your new office?
  24. How are you my friend? How are you handling the cold? What about your kids? I tried reppinh you before and I was not able to.... I shall try again later
  25. I prefer the real deal too. No batteries etc....Take a look at that website....
  26. Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for gifts - I have to resist the temptation to buy books for myself cause I have no more room on my 3 bookshelves & wall unit (books in double layers). I was playing with my friend's Kobo, but it's just not the same as holding a book in my hands (I'm old school, lol).
  27. You are the kindest soul I have ever known....
In the future, you can get great priced books on line and no shipping, from the book depository in the UK. If you have no air miles to cash in....
  28. What do I want? Well behaved critters? lol

Actually, I just bought myself a b-day present - the complete set of the original Twilight Zone (my Mom & I will be watching it together, she's the one who gets me hooked on tv shows). Wasn't too bad - I cashed in airmiles for Chapters GCs & there was a sale on. Did the same thing with my Xmas present (also shared with my Mom).
  29. Next week I'm a year older - triple ones for me. My friend with the twisted sense of humour sends me stories & quotes from Sir John A MacDonald cause we share the same birthday.

How was your b-day? Hope you got everything you dreamed of.
  30. That is what I do until I am tired enough to sleep. I really enjoy the 3d one.
She has no more blood work scheduled until the new year... when we see the specialist. I am so very thankful to my family Dr. He has been wonderful, calling us at home from his home, and did so Christmas Eve at 9pm.I am so thankful and it was the best gift I could receive.... my daughter's good health!
