  1. Vet didn't mention anything about magnesium, I'll have to ask next time we're in. Thanks for the suggestion.

How are things going with you? Hopefully, all is well.
  2. I am very pleased that today's 40% POP happened to be a good soaker in the am. Last night was one night too many in the recent "sweatfest" that was the long weekend. No A/C here but at least there was moving air. Sun pm mid-afternoon was like "where did the breeze go?" Thankfully, my Fortino's had a supply of no name freeze pops by the dairy section when I shopped on Sat. Lived on freeze pops during the daylight hours as more
solid food was strictly for cooler hours.
You made a valid point-people who made good money are chasing after something that by most rights should go the family member that did the hard work and spent on repairs. She needs to reclaim some if not all of the expenses from the house sale after the agent gets their commission and before the other family members get their shares.
  3. It's just heartbreaking what's going on - the extended family is now going to be put into the middle of this. I just don't understand how people who earned a good wage can be so very greedy.

On a happier note, I hope you are enjoying this weather. I'm in absolute heaven - the hotter the better! Yes, I'm the oddball that has AC and never uses it.
  4. J did her best and it was lovely that she introduced people.
The other person should have stayed home and saved everyone the bother of having to acknowledge her.
  5. If the will stands, she'll get $10K from the estate, which she'll have to use to pay the lawyer. You'd think she'd be happy with that. They didn't live together or share a bank account. I could understand her being upset if she'd been completely cut out of the arrangements, but this is beyond the pale. Should have seen it coming - at the visitation, she sat in the corner like a queen holding court, expecting everyone to come to her, while J mingled and introduced folks to each other to make everyone feel welcome.

I just don't understand people like that.
  6. I was thinking that person would be out of pocket on her own money on legal bills, not on money from anything in the will. Hope your friend claims all funeral expenses to help her own situation.
  7. The thing is that she is getting something from the estate, but she doesn't think it's enough. Apparently, she was also upset because in the will, J's brother referred to her by her name, not 'my beloved C' or 'my life partner C'. Sheesh. Am I evil in hoping she blows through the inheritance she's entitled to with legal bills?
  8. I know! 6 months is not a possibility, not with starving critters around. Did you hear the part where it used to be 20 *years*?! I can see storing wine or whiskey, but dough???
  9. Of course! Rubies and salt water pearls, what else can a girl hope for? Although, I do have a couple of little beads that are zoisite with teeny tiny rubies inside (if you get out the electron microscope you might be able to make out one or two ). And I do have some fresh water pearls in a variety of colours. Probably more than I need, but, hey, when things are on clearance, a girl's gotta plan for the future and make her own pearl bracelets (not likely to get any as presents from the roommates).
  10. I'm not one for most scary films but I'll see if I can find the movie online. There's another British actor John Thaw) who I liked in A Year in Provence but I did not like watching his UK detective series (Inspector Morse) for which he got acclaim. Show was not my cup of tea.
Since I'm a year behind you, have to agree that sometimes age does not get in the way of finding who's hot! Voice is one of the things that works on me. Gee, life better become more like a paperback romance book soon!
  11. Oh, I had a major crush on him as a teen. Drool. (age is all relative )

Ever see The Wicker Man from 1973? Brilliant acting, great movie and scary (the remake with Nick Cage lost the subtly which made it a thriller).
  12. Robert McCall---(whistle! and his voice was easy on the ears). I bought a dark double-breasted coat from Sears when the show was on because I wanted to be as cool as him. Enjoy.
  13. I'll have to look for it. Been a while since I've watched anything with subtitles (used to do the foreign flicks at TIFF, some were fun, some were wth).

Have fun staying warm today - good day for watching old tv shows (Equalizer for me today while I do some organizing).
  14. The creator/writer from Gilmore Girls (I watched most of the first three seasons then never really got back to it) just delivered snappy lines and the actress playing Lorelai really did a formidable job making the lines seem like top-of-the-head spontaneous delivery.

If you can manage subtitled Korean drama, look online for TWSSG or The First King's Four Gods (the sites I had watched it on are out of biz but there remain a couple more (if I find them, I'll PM you). Historical sci-fi drama about how Korea's first king (heavenly son etc) and the four gods (the Blue Dragon is kind of handsome) came to be.
  15. Not sure about the female writers. Somehow their style always seems to go into soap opera land - not sure if it's cause that's what they like or that's what is expected? Film/TV is a weird world at the best of times (worked as an extra, did some tech stuff, camera work, etc) - the people are fun, but living in a parallel universe. Theatre folks are the same. Great people, especially if taken in small doses. I learned my lesson about artists (sweet but crazy bf who thankfully didn't become a dh).

I remember thinking "Yeah, finally a normal woman" when Catherine Disher played the coroner on Forever Knight - she wasn't the stereotypical hysterical woe-is-me type gal, at least for the first little while (as always, these things degenerate). Seems women are always portrayed as crazy or catty or clueless.
  16. I forgot that Blue Thunder was a series. Seemed to recall Roy Scheider was in the movie version. I liked the A-Team too-just the general sense of "whatever" the team had that is really hard to mimic with females in real-life.
I recall skipping the North/South series because I really don't like historical dramas (A&E Pride & Prejudice of 1995 is excused for the sharp and snappy dialogue, actors and yes, Mr. Darcy). Jonathan Frakes, in the days before Star Trek: The Next Generation. Will have to see if Youtube has snippets of JF in period costume from N/S.
Glen A. Larson just passed away. His name was on so many shows. How come women writers did not get the money and respect as male writers??
  17. Blue Thunder was fun with a fancy helicopter, too bad it didn't last long. I think A-Team beat all of them WRT the airborne vehicles. Loved the whole concept of fixing up a battered old school bus cause there were no armoured personnel carriers to be found in the jungle.

And what's wrong with the Hardy Boys? They were way more fun than Nancy Drew. Parker Stevenson was very easy on the eyes. He played a nasty on an episode of the '88 version of Mission: Impossible (lots of pretty boys in that one and some fun gadgets too). Did you ever watch North and South - Patrick Swayze, James Read, Jonathan Frakes, Parker Stevenson. Yummmm. Who really cares about historical accuracy when you're looking at pretty scenery.

I had a HUGE crush on Stephen J Cannell. My bff and I went to LA on vacation in 1990 and stumbled upon his offices while touring - she made up an excuse for us to go in the building, just so I could get close to my hero. Ah, to be young and silly again.
  18. Early 80s, I liked the shows with the smart vehicles: Street Hawk, Air Wolf, Knight Rider. Pity that Riptide did not have a smart boat. And I really liked Hunter with all of its airborne vehicles-articles used to say Stephen J. Cannell owned the largest used car lots in Hollywood. I'll admit to watch Hardy Boys (Parker Stevenson! Shaun Cassidy!) and early Baywatch (Parker Stevenson!).
  19. How did I miss that show????? Then again, even back as a kid, the shows that had corpses were the ones that interested me (I must've been the only kid in kindergarten who wanted to discuss the plot of the previous night's Columbo ).
  20. Thanks!

That's the weird part, I have lots of groups of friends, so it's not like I'm relying on these particular folks. It's more that I was shocked that the one friend in particular would do what she did. At least now I know just where she stands or so I thought. She has since wanted to talk to me about some personal things going on in her life & wanted my advice. I honestly think she didn't realize that what she did had any affect on me, which I find really odd. Not sure if she's just naive or gullible or stupid (well, easily manipulated). Oh well, I have more important things to do, like make turkey shaped doggy biscuits for the canines in the neighbourhood.

Hope you have a wonderful day.
