  1. Thank you, Ciel...I don't for a second doubt our wee ones visit now and then and that one day we'll all be reunited. I've yet to tell you the story about how "Jennifur" got her name, if you think that other story is strange! hahaha!! "IF dogs don't go to heaven, I want to go where they go. " But they do....
    Have a lovely day, Ciel!
  2. Aside from adjusting the metal screw on the bobbin case to see if it helps the thread move, there's not much that can be done. And yes, Kenmore machine (40+ years old) is definitely fussy about pressure foot tension, thread, needle size, thread tension-you name it! Thick layers also kick up a lint storm-not too good if it lands on any stray oil that might be outside of the motor or back or top of the machine (rags are a sewist's best friend then).
I've started to use a starter/ender bit of fabric before the machine moves onto a sewing project on both machines. Worth a try.
    Happy Thanksgiving/Serenity Day!
  3. Wow. Mine IS a kenmore and yes, this is what it's been doing for years now! Honestly, I absolutely hate it. When it's running well, it's a dream to sew with, invisible zippers, quilts, everything. Then it suddenly pulls (literally!) something like this! I have an older machine, maybe two and I'm about ready to haul one of them in for a cleaning! How interesting that you had the same problem! The fabric I was sewing with was good quality cotton quilting fabric, two layers and the batting; I guess it was just too much for it. Thank you, Ciel, you confirmed my suspicions about that machine. Happy Thanksgiving, Hon!
  4. How odd that the machine is acting up after a cleaning. What you posted is what happens to fabric that is not a sturdy woven fabric when sewn on a console Kenmore that jams the bobbin case and feedhole more times than I want to remember. Hence I bought a portable this summer to sew most things except zippers and buttonholes. The freearm end has been most useful too-the console does not have the room to fuss with a bulky seam.
  5. Ciel, thank you for the suggestion, Hon...thing is, this machine was just in for a thorough cleaning, so I have no idea what brought this on. I've done tons of sewing with it, but for some reason, from time to time, it has a hissy fit and just plugs up. This time it pulled a whole whack of knotted tread up through the top fabric. A good swift kick is what it needs, I'm thinkin'!
So...I'm knitting up that hat and mitten set and DD loves it, so all I have to do now is finish them before they leave for Georgetown next Friday.
Thanks again, Hon...and I love your little dancing puffball!!
