So that would have been my second guess. My parents had a rose bush that produced roses that looked like that...I should have known...besides my peonies were huge...honestly? They really are my favourite garden bloom. Unfortunately we downsized a few years ago..sold our too-huge home to our DD and her DH and we purchased hers. But they have very strict instuctions NOT to touch those peony plants!

Peony? Nope, it's Wild Rose! The Wild Rose is the Alberta Provincial Flower. But we have some out in Lotusland, too. When there's a lot in bloom and it's sunny and hot they produce an intoxicating cloud of rose scent.
