I am! I got in Monday. What a great time! It was super to see everyone again, and oh the memories that were made at our annual parties! lol It snowed almost everyday, but it was worth it! Made it that much more cozy and warm being "home". I hope the week has been good to you aswell!
Hey, your back are ya, how did your trip go?
Hey, pm me your addy, I can send ya a couple of the danino coupons.
Sorry to hear. I can not even fathom loosing someone so close. Fredericton, is actually where I am heading this time. My family are scattered around Fredericton in the small towns just bordering it. Waasis, Rusagonis, Oromocto etc. So a 10 min drive outside the city. It must be beautiful living in Port ___ (anyone of them is amazing! lol). That was my wish, but DH said it would be too much of a hike into work. He currently works in Woodstock, and we are as far east London as you can get, it is still a lot of gas. I just love small towns and country life. I would feel right in place in any of the Port's ON has to offer lol.
I'm pretty sure it was Fredricton he was from, and I was born in Hamilton, we moved to Port after my Dad had passed away, I was only 8, so pretty much have lived in a small town for the last 30 years.
WOW! We DO have a lot in common! That's wild! So were you born here? What part of NB is your dad from? Mine originated (and my grandma still lives) in Grand Falls. They actually have a road named after my family, as my grandparents had so many kids. LOL. The old Trans Canada runs right past her house and the street. It is quite the thrill, when were younger and would travel, to see the road as we knew we were getting close to Grandmas house lol. Now they rerouted the Trans Canada behind her house, as there have been quite a few accidents happen on her property, and many other peoples, on that road. The majority of my uncles are military or some sort of service men. It is just something they did back then, in that town I guess.
We have a fair bit in common, my mom and her folks were from Germany, my dad was from NB they met here in ON, and I only live 45 minutes outside of London, plus my youngest was born in 2006, many similarities, lol.
I met DH here in London in 2006. So we decided to move to NB in 2007. My oldest is from a previous relationship. DH came into the picture when she was 4. So he is her "Dad". Her biological "father", never batted an eyelash when we moved. So it is not neccessarily that, it was my DH missed his family and finding a job in NB is very limited. Especially in the town we lived, as it was predominantly military. So I reluctantly moved back. It's been hard, I went to high school here, so I have those friends, but the main one I have is my Mom. So that's a bonus. My mom is fromLondon--My Dad is from NB. Somehow they met and travelled the world and had my sister in Germany, myself in NS. We have lived in 3 provinces. So, to me, I don't really have a "home", you know? But I feel at home in NB. It's just DH will never move back there. So....I am kind of stuck.
Wow you do have a lrage family there, and it's funny when you mentioned about your Dad's retirment, sounds like my uncle, who spent his whole life in the military here as well. Not that I would like ya to leave the London area, but is there a reason you stay here and not move back? Or is it because of the kids Dad, I read part of your thread that had mentioned something.
I went down in March of this year for my Dad's retirement. 38 Years in the Canadian Forces! SO PROUD! That was the last time I saw any of them. Before that it had been a year to the day, that I had moved back to ON. My daughters have not seen their family since March 2009. So much has changed in them, and it will be so nice to reaquaint my youngest with family, as she wouldn't remember them from being 14 mnths old. I have so many great friends there too, that are just like family. My father has 11 siblings, so I have A LOT of visiting to do
It's so nice to read your excitment, how long has it been since the last time you saw all of them>?
Hi Littlemoe0! I am going until Nov 29th. So 11 days, as I leave on the 18th. It is going to be amazing, and I just can not wait to surprise my neice and nephew! We will be getting in late at 11pm, then have an hour to travel by car, so I am just going to crawl in bed with my neice and surprise her that way . Then do the same to my nephew. My sister is going to take them out of school the Friday, so I don't feel bad about disturbing their sleep lol. My oldest's birthday is Saturday, so she said this is the best present ever. My Dad does not know we are coming, so I am planning on putting my youngest (almost 3 yr old) at his doorstep and ringing the doorbell and hiding lmao. He will be stunned! Oh I just can't wait! (I already started packing lol).
Thanks for the rep Myslynn, how long will you be going for?
I am far east end, behind the airport. I border Thorndale, so I guess they think I don't need the extra info on London events and savings haha. I get the pennysaver (after calling and requesting it) but that rarely has WalMart. The only one that comes guarenteed is SDM and Zellers. Other than that I have to online search the flyers. Never have recieved a coupon mag, except the envelope that comes once in a while and never has anything good or even really coupons in it. Money Saver, I think.
YOu don't get a small free nespaper with advertising in it? That's how I get the smart source, and about once a month or so, the brandsaver comes in the london free press. But keep your eyes peeled in stores, that's where you can score alot of them. Which side of London are you on?
Yes, I just posted on the adopt a newbie site that I am in need, but I don't have 20 posts quite yet. So, soon I shall! That would be great! I live out of the city and do not get all the flyers and never a coupon book insert, so this site is great for the updates--so I am going to have to start asking my friends that live in the city to save it for me. As I never even knew we had booklets! Now I am on the hunt
Don't worry, most folks are very friendly around here, and someone may say that you posted in the wrong spot, but you can always hit the one button at the bottom of your post, to the right of the little grey scales and send a message to a mod about moving it. If you are unsure, just ask one of us folks with alot of posts, any one of us will help ya out. I see your checking out the adopt a newbie thread, let me know, I got a great one I can hook you up with right in London, she is awesome.
Hi Moe, Thanks so much! I am finding my way around a bit easier today than yesterday! Still trying to figure a lot of things out. A lot of very nice (and helpful) people here for sure! I think I made a few posts in the wrong places, but I will soon get the handle of things (hopefully!) lol
No problem, are you finding your way around ok? And, so you know, if you hit my name, then type a message, it will appear on my board so I can tell if you responded. Just thought I would mention it. I remember how lost I was when I first joined up here.
Hello there, here's an area that might interest you. http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/london/ It's for London and the surrounding area. I'm out of town myself, down on Lake Erie.
