Hi, welcome to SC! I saw your post in the mail thread, and thought I'd reply here, in case you missed an answer there.
P&P is a points site, you enter words and get points for them which you can redeem for prizes (I always get books!). They are just undergoing a change, and it's explained at the end of the thread here -

TNS is a survey site - one I belong to, along with others. It's one of the better ones.
There's a thread here about them. (mind you, I don't know how that poster in freebies got a toaster, there must have been a draw or contest. Usually you just get points you can use towards giftcards, etc.)
