I was lucky, I bought my condo before my neighbourhood became a tourist attraction (the Distillery). My friend calls it the million dollar view on a budget.

Here`s the view from the teeny side window (builder messed up & forgot to put in a balcony, so I got a tiny east window instead). Sorry it`s so fuzzy, but I`m generally not awake at the sunrise. You can make out the DVP going into the Gardiner in the distance.

Here`s the view from my real window (the only one that opens). Sheesh, I get trains & planes going by all the time, except when I try to take a picture. As of next summer, the view will be of a 40 storey condo.

Now that Toronto has the PanAm Games, the Athlete's Village might end up across the street (the dark area behind the fence in the sunrise pic). Should be interesting. At least now they might actually finish something - there is supposed to be a park at the end of that street, it was supposed to be open to the public 2+ yrs ago. Gotta love city projects.

Now for the temptation of the Poutine, Patty...my momma just came back from a holiday in Montreal, and I made her bring me back a 6 pound Montreal Smoked meat from Schwartz's, and some cheese curds for my poutine...I think that might be dinner tomorrow....now if only I could replicate those 3/ .99 cent Montreal Steamers...I love those hot dogs!!

I know people have been saying they put mozzarella on their poutine but the cheese curds are the authentique one. Squeeky cheese as we call it here. LOL

Lites if you want to makes steamies you can try this. Boil the hot dogs as usual and then put them in the buns and wrap them in a tea towel and put them in a collander over the boiling water. They come out pretty good. Most places use Lafleurs hot dogs I don't know if you have them out there.

cheese curds are fresh, young cheddar cheese in the natural, random shape and form before being processed into blocks and aged. (Cheddar cheese is typically aged from 60 days to 4 years before being sold.) Unlike the aged variety, curds lose their desirable qualities if refrigerated or not eaten for a few days (the squeak disappears and they turn dry and salty). This means that even if you can find them in ordinary supermarkets, IMHO they are probably a few weeks old, and inedible or at least unremarkable.

Makes all the difference in the world.
